The Bible vs Religion.
Jun 7th, 2007 at 11:26pm

There are some things that the Bible seems to support that "religion" seems to disagree with.
Sure, the Bible only supports only one faith, it is the only one I am given to teach on though.

Any other teacher of any other faith is very welcome.

Religion infers Jesus was poor, hence it is good to be poor.

The Bible says Jesus was really rich.
1/ He was a carpenter. A tradesman, even a well paid trade now.
He had a house. He had no kids and was not married.
He was given camel train loads of valuable spices when he was born.

Rich, and then some.
Even his followers had some cash. He instructed them to leave their purses behind, so they had purses.
One of his wannabe followers left, finding the financial cost was beyond him.
One of his female followers was a dealer in purple cloth a colour of wealth.

thanks ausnat - I wish I knew more of other beliefs.

yes IQSRLOW, the tithing is an old testament law.
However just as relevant in the new testament in my thinking and experience.
It is just one thing I have been "reminded" about repeatedly.
Twice I have opened my Bible randomly to find EXACTLY the same quote.
He is really putting it in my face.

Rotten religion

It enslaves people to a mindless repitition of actions.
It makes real people who are striving for something become robots.
It is oppressive and intolerant.
It isolates people.

Rightly most people turn off when the word religion is mentioned
Rightly they awaken when spirituality is said.

My spirituality erupts forth and liberates me.
It enlivens me.

I am spiritual
