What, just because of mathematical facts ?
Just because all of those at the top are whites and all at the bottom are blacks ?

I guess you have a point there Donald.    Wink

I never said anything about genetics or race, sprint. As I've said a million times before, culture and race aren't the same.

But I guess you can argue the genetic differences that led to the differences in living standards. I'm not sure. I'm not a biologist.

Of course I do. There's no other way to argue that fact. The highest are of European culture. The lowest being cultures other than European.

It's quite clear that European culture is that of a higher culture. And anything but is of a lower culture.

The only one that breaks the trend is Japan. However, they are largely westernised and base their society off a European model. No denying it.

True. Those two countries are very similar to Japan though.

You have missed something guys, most of the top 10 are Scandinavian not strictly European. In fact the top one, Norway, has refused to join the European Union and long may it remain that way.

Hi Craig. Have you been here before? The name sounded familiar is all.

Good point BTW. The UK is noticeably absent from the top 10, as are all the southern European countries. I wonder if it took into account the horrible weather.

So horrible weather = good living conditions? I doubt it... otherwise Russia would be high on the list... as well as Poland, Estonia and Latvia. Its mainly culture I believe.

The HDI measures the average achievements in a country in three basic dimensions of human development:

    * A long and healthy life, as measured by life expectancy at birth.
    * Knowledge, as measured by the adult literacy rate (with two-thirds weighting) and the combined primary, secondary, and tertiary gross enrollment ratio (with one-third weighting).
    * A decent standard of living, as measured by the log of gross domestic product (GDP) per capita at purchasing power parity (PPP) in USD.

So can you tell me how culture affects literacy rate, life expectancy and standard of living, as opposed to say...hospitals, schools, good governance?

i recently discovered that finnish people have their origin in Asia and for the most part are still more genetically similar to asians that europeans.

so thats 4 to asian genetics Smiley

I really dont think genetics play a huge part, to say they play no part in peoples way of life is stupid but more weight must be given to culture.
