Acupuncture

Would you think acupuncture is a spiritual thing ?

I go to one occassionally, she is really good at her craft.
Early on she put one in my foot and there was a "whoosh" of old emotions from my body out of that foot. She knew it was going to happen.
Another needle felt like that sensation of falling down an unknown distance. eg, if I step backwards off a ledge. Just that ingasp and moment till I hit grod again .

yes, pretty much is my understanding too.
She is also good for sprains, back aches etc etc etc .

One of my old mates is a painter, he had RSI from painting. She put it right in 2 visits. She said for him to come 3 times, but being a bloke he only went twice, later on he said he should have gone the 3 times.

Yoga could be answer for PMS women

http://www.smh.com.au/news/National/Yoga-could-be-answer-for-PMS-women/2007/07/18/1184559794780.html

Scientists have found the first proof that yoga can ease the pain of pre-menstrual tension.

Furthermore, it appears yoga can actually lift levels of an antidepressant-like hormone, allopregnanolone, typically low in chronic sufferers.

But women's health specialists are sceptical about the findings and say most women with PMS need more than stretching and meditation to get relief.

The womens health specialists may be right. More natural remedies would be my first attempt at some relief though.
Seems the more antidepressants people take, the more they become accustomed to them.
Currently we take more antidepressants than ever before and are more depressed than ever before.
Perhaps we should try something different ?
natural endorphins from exercise and stretching may help, if not there is nothing lost.
Stretching and meditation likewise.
better all round to go for a walk than sit at home and pop another pill.

From a christian viewpoint "Your body is a temple ....", we should treat it as such.
..."on His law he meditates day and night"  , "....those that wait upon The Lord." .
We are meant to have some "quiet " time. Sunday is meant to be our day of rest.

from a christian viewpoint

"no other gods before me"

many natural remedies are buddhist, taoist etc based, not really promoted in the book.

That doesn't mean that Christianity would have anything against them. It's not that they are based on Buddhism or Taoism. It's that they were developed in that culture so the mechanism used to explain how they work is framed within a Buddhist or Taoist world view. Accepting that they work is not the same as accepting the explanation for how they work.

Fair point pender.   Yes, it is an area of issue.

From my perspective, if I go to an acupuncturist for a sore back, not a problem.
If I go there to "worship" her (as such), somewhat different.

As another example, the other night I had an itchy calf. I rubbed some of the Aloe Vera plant on it.
That stopped the iching. Some may possibly see that as being a "new ager" and "unchristian" of me.
I was just trying to stop an itch.

i believe that many of these things do work to an extent, i just dont agree with what spiritual effect they may have on people, i dont want to go into detail.
