Obama calls himself black, doesn't he?

I think he would go to some length to avoid doing so.

Blame the Media for labelling him "black" then! He could be purple with pink spots for all I care. Maybe he is white but just very suntanned?  Wink

Obama's VP choice now the focus

With Hillary Clinton out of the US presidential race, Democrats have begun healing wounds from a bruising nominating contest and speculating about Barack Obama's vice-presidential choice.

Obama, who clinched the Democratic presidential nomination last week, was off the campaign trail, preparing for a tour of the country in his race against the presumptive Republican candidate John McCain in November.

His next major decision was his choice of running mate. Clinton, who officially bowed out of the campaign on Saturday and threw her support to the Illinois senator, has strong support from some in the party but is far from the only possible contender.

"No one brings to a ticket what Hillary brings," California Democratic senator Dianne Feinstein said on the ABC program, This Week.

Feinstein, who hosted a private meeting between Obama and Clinton on Thursday night, cited Clinton's achievement in winning about 18 million votes during the nominating contests with particular strength among women and working class Democrats.

Obama, McCain go head to head after Clinton's exit

From Iraq to diplomacy, via healthcare and jobs, the battle for the US presidency took shape Sunday with only two viable contenders left standing: Democrat Barack Obama and Republican John McCain.

After Hillary Clinton's departure from the Democratic race and full-throated endorsement of Obama Saturday, supporters of the Illinois senator and McCain hammered the main themes that will define November's election.

As a state Senator in Illinois during the 2002 session, Barack Obama introduced SB 1789 which would have adopted instant runoff voting (IRV) for congressional and state primary elections in Illinois and authorized IRV for local elections. Read more here.
