Victorian MPs will have $100,000 at their disposal with allowances set to increase by more than 40 per cent.

The state's 128 MPs will each receive an average $30,000 boost to promote themselves and run their electoral offices.

The allowance hike is expected to cost taxpayers $4 million a year.

The changes have yet to be introduced to parliament but are believed to have cross-party support.
