My observation is that whenever one person makes a statement, another person somewhere will say that it's wrong, or a lie. If you say that something is white, somebody somewhere will say that it's actually black - it's just human nature.

It doesn't have to be the Bible, but it's currently fashionable to 'bash' that particular holy book.

If you find inspiration in the Bible, then that's a good thing. What you get from it depends as much on your attitude. Sometimes it's better to take a childlike approach rather than a cynical one (note Lisa's quote from Mark 10) because you'll get more out of it.

The Bible, the Veda, the Torah and the Avesta to name four of the holy books, represent the collected wisdom of many generations. It's all a question of how you read them.

That was played at my uncle's funeral (damn I am so involved with funerals these days) and it summed him up to a certain degree, but not to the most degree. I'll always remember that song now for the impact it had at my uncle's funeral.

Tunes do have a way of conveying what words cannot. I think that (relatively) modern tunes have a place in the religious world when done properly.

The Death of Jesus

Death for Blasphemy

Infidels and Gays Should Die

Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
2 And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
