The part on the Bali bombing was particularly interesting with regards to the crater at the Sari Club scene and the structural steel reinforcement stripped of concrete. I was in the army reserves engineers regiment during my early twenties. We trained on bridge building and other contructions as well as laying and disarming land mines and demolition. I remember several classes on the properties of exposives for the purpose of demolition. Overpressure (psi) is key to structural failure. A 1000kg amonium nitrate IED would not produce the psi required to cause such damages. C4 can produce the required psi. However, the ambiant damage (over a 1.5 km) would require a psi beyond 10psi.

Who would have the technology to produce an explosion in excess of 10psi?
