Maybe the condition is caused by a distant voice of reason which is saying:
This damned feeling could very well cost me my house, my car and a lifetime of slavery.

Like the guy who was asked why he hadn't married?

When asked he said he couldn't bear the emotional pain, so he just picked the person who hated him the most, and gave them his house. Grin

I'm sorry mantra I don't get what you said at all...  how is running away from love sane?

BTW...  I don't suffer from the phobia...  never even hinted that I did.

If you suffered from it Grendel you probably wouldn't have posted on it.

What is sanity?  Everything is labelled now.  I'd never heard of philophobia before - but probably a good proportion of the planet has it.

Is there a cure?  More to the point do those people suffering from it want to be cured?  Maybe philophobia is a more natural condition now than being in a loving reciprocal relationship without physical love?

I hardly think its a majority thing mantra.

Most people crave a good relationship and love and affection.

Mad one...  I hardly think it is limited to just one sex.

and it is different to "commitment" phobia mantra.

There is such a thing as melancholophilia. It's part of the Russian national psyche.

Back to the topic, I think it's natural for two people who are very much in love to have a sense of fear of what the future brings, but that's more of a fear associated with love than a fear of love itself. I can understand that somebody who has recently broken up with a longterm lover could develop such a condition.

They have no future, most of them anyway, so they make love in desperation before the trigger is triggered.
May be they are right and there is no sanctuary for anyone but simpler forms of life.
