World's fattest man ties the knot
Oct 27th, 2008 at 3:42pm

Why would anyone marry someone like this ? For what reason?
We do things for ourselves, for what it gives us. What did she get ?

Does she just like chubbys??

"Mexican Manuel Uribe, the world's fattest man in the 2007 Guinness Book of Records, today married his friend's widow in a televised ceremony the US Discovery Channel dubbed My Big Fat Mexican Wedding.

Despite shedding 230 kilograms from 590 kilograms early on this year, Uribe, 43, had to be carried by a crane on his bed, where he has been confined for years, to the makeshift altar at a venue 30 minutes from his home.

The ceremony was televised by Discovery as part of a special, exclusive program titled after the 2002 US movie My Big Fat Greek Wedding, with other reporters from Japan, Germany and Argentina in tow.

Uribe has been suffering from morbid obesity since 1992. He was gripped by suicidal thoughts until February of this year when he undertook a drastic diet.

He and his wife, Claudia Solis, first met four years ago at the deathbed of a friend of his who weighed 250 kilograms.

The wedding reception had a "low-calorie banquet" with meat, cream of mushroom and buttered vegetables."

Yes I saw the photo Sprintcyclist - he's very lucky.  This no doubt is the sort of love Grendel is talking about - but it's hard to imagine how it evolved into marriage.

Perhaps she saw the person beneath the weight.  A true love story.  She definitely couldn't be called superficial - unless he's very wealthy.

I watched a doco on this poor man a couple of days ago..he was huge. He had 2 huge lymphodemoas on both his legs to deal with as well as his masive weight..

He is not wealthy by any means but seems to have become an object of curiosity because of his weight.

He has a wonderful spirit considering being trapped by his weight.

Its love, pure and simple.

nah, she wants to "fix" him.

is why some women go for the "bad boy"

their "love" is based on being able to "fix" the faults in the other, that will prove to the world how "good" they are for the other person.
The dutiful wife.
it is flawed and normally encourages the "flawed" person to continue upon their way.

If he continues at that rate, he could easily have a normal weight within 2 years, but he's always going to have problems.

- but how could anyone get themselves into such a situation?

At the moment he could have a nude picture taken and all offending parts would be well and truly under cover.

yes Sprint
your right I think. Some women do love to fix men and in this case he can sure do with the extra help.

Muso
If I remember correctly he was on the "Zone Diet".. it sounds very healthy...a lot of rabbit type food but it sure seems to be working your right. The whole program seems to be a huge infomercial for the Zone Diet.

I'd hate to think that after all his hopes and hard work he would not suceed and no doubt he will be left with problems of the huge burden on his internal organs/skeletal structure  etc.

To see him out of that bed would be great.

Depression is usually the main cause of weight gain such as this muso.
