inter-country adoption
Nov 24th, 2008 at 2:53pm

There was an article in the weekend Australia (issue before the current one) about a lady who set up an organisation to facilitate inter-country adoption. She was very criticial of government regulation. In the most recent issue, there was a response claiming that the demand for inter-country adoption far exceeds the 'supply' and that deregulation only leads to a bidding war, unethical treatment of poor mothers to con them into giving up children, or outright kidnapping.

The original article:

Looking at some of the prices that are being quoted, I thought China had already turned this into a business. The Chinese government must be truly laughing at the stupid round-eyes. We give them all our manufacturing, industry, jobs now we pay huge amounts to raise their children.

I have no issue with giving children homes that need it, but I believe completely that it is a business and the trade is human life. In the meantime they are able to increase their population internationally and at no cost.

I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives.

Actually, in terms of population issues, China is probably the best country to adopt from. They have the best control over their population, so you won't be adding to it. Their standard of living is also rising rapidly, so even that half of the equation is diminished.
