Live on a property? Got some rubbish that needs to be burnt? Finding that just throwing unleaded on it, the unleaded burns too quickly and you don't get the rubbish all destroyed?
A trick I discovered, was to go to your local supermarket, and buy some of that Lux Pure Soap Flakes stuff, put it in a container that isn't going to melt when contacted with petrol, and put the unleaded in there. The flakes will absorb the petrol pretty quickly, but let is sit for a little while. Pour this out on to whatever you want to burn. Make sure there is a bit of petrol liquid in there, so you know the flakes have reached saturation point.
Now, this petrol will run off, but the soap flakes will sit there, saturated with fuel, in a nice little clump.
If you light this with matches, or a candle, or something, expect to get severely injured, or at least thrown back a long way. Also expect the windows on a house, if it is nearby, to shake like mad and potentially break. Be prepared for a fireball/mushroom cloud that will go 5-6m in the air.
Want a easy way to light it, safely, from a distance?
Remember high school science, making a volcano? Condies Crystals (potassium permanganate) and glycerine mixed together will combust. The time it takes to ignite depends on the ratios of chemicals used and the air temperature, either way, you have plenty of time to run (I'd say more than 5 seconds, usually around 30-40 seconds in my experience) away from the danger zone. The only hassle with this stuff is, if you want to put it out, water won't do it.
What sort of home handy tips do you have?
