OPPOSE CENSORSHIP
Mar 20th, 2009 at 5:18pm

OPPOSE CENSORSHIP. What did the internet ever do to you! This is going to make it harder to catch criminals if you make websites unavailable with some retarded firewall. It will force it underground and electronic tracking will not be as simple.

Just who is the government trying to shield from investigative attention! Paedophiles?!?

This is an outrage!

They will be harder to catch if the material is underground and physical rather than electronic!

BAD GOVERNMENT! WHO ARE YOU TRYING TO HELP?

SOMEONE THINK OF THE CHILDREN!

Leaked Australian blacklist reveals banned sites

The Australian communications regulator's top-secret blacklist of banned websites has been leaked on to the web and paints a harrowing picture of Australia's forthcoming internet censorship regime.

It's definitely one of the word policies ever to come out of the Labor party. I sincerely hope any plan to filter the internet fall flat on its face. Not only is it ethically wrong IMO for the government to control something like this so stringently, but there's also practically issues like the potential decrease in speed of the Internet with a filter this size in place. We already have pretty slow Internet here in Australia. Also, it just wont work perfectly. Sites that should be blocked will get through and sites that shouldn't be blocked wont. It'll just be horrible. It will be 1984. I'm hoping this wakes people up to just how much the government wants to impede on our privacy. Hopefully this will generate a lot of concern over what else and how else the government may be monitoring us and, due to public demand, the government's ability to impede on our privacy is itself impeded and we see massive right to privacy law reform in this country.

Remember when the government went on a gun banning spree?

They took money from the health system, but that is another issue.

The amount of guns handed in compared to LEGAL import records of unregistered guns was laughable.

There are A LOT of guns out there. Not to mention the huge amounts of guns missing from ADF stocks.

This 'ban' definitely isn't going to work either.

Are these politicians serious?

If I was Conroy, Gillard or Rudd, I would be absolutely terrified of potential ramifications arising from this. I would be especially terrified of their own staff if I were them.

What a convenient way to get near a target than to get a job around them.

And if that doesn't work, find someone near them and hypnotise them to perform certain actions. And if that doesn't work find someone who can get near to someone who can get near them etc, and hypnotise them to hypnotise them etc.

They shouldn't go ahead with this censorship.

What is the actual date that it goes through?
