Too soft
Apr 3rd, 2009 at 4:33pm

While making life hard for Australian coal industry and farmers authorities are too soft on foreign polluter.

THE captain of the Pacific Adventurer which spilled oil in Moreton Bay can leave Australia - and he may soon be back in Queensland waters.

Quote:
In Brisbane Magistrates Court today, Captain Bernardino Santos's bail conditions were widened to allow him to leave Australia.

The Courier-Mail reports he has been charged with discharging oil under the Transport Operations Marine Pollution Act after his ship leaked 270 tonnes of oil during cyclonic seas off southern Queensland.

The maximum penalty is $350,000 fine. ...

$350K ... what a joke.
