I can understand a child being afraid of the dark,
Sep 9th, 2009 at 1:13pm

I can understand a child being afraid of the dark, but I cannot understand an adult being afraid of the light.

Plato

Q.
Why are small children afraid of the dark?

A.
I believe, because as small children we still have some residual memory, of what
evil
resides [in the spirit realm,] in the darkness!

Personally, i believe that we are never closer [in this life] to our God 'consciousness', than when we first 'arrive' here.

And that is why little children still do [seem to] believe, in the reality of 'magical' experiences, and can believe in things not seen [with their eyes].

We all know that so innocently, children can accept, what they encounter, or what they experience.

But so soon, within a few years, that consciousness , that innocence, will fade away - as we 'go native', as the 'presence' of this 'reality' kicks in!

Luke 18:15
And they brought unto him also infants, that he would touch them: but when his disciples saw it, they rebuked them.
16  But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.
17  Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.

John 3:3
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4  Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
5  Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7  Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
8  The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
9  Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be?
10  Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things?
11  Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness.
12  If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?

Quote:

"......That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit."

If you want to re-discover the spiritual child within you, read the Psalms.

There is no disgrace in being afraid of spiritual darkness.

Your fear of such an 'environment', rather demonstrates, that you have developed some spiritual common sense.

Gee, that sort of complicates the matter a bit doesn't it?

Isn't it just natural that kids would be afraid of the dark? But the reasons are physical, not spiritual.

Plato smayto. Where was he at the trial?

He wrote stories of men who ran to the light, while he, like the rest of us, ran to the safety of shadows.

It seems like Plato was still afraid of the dark, I don't think Aristotle would've been.

helian,

I collected that quote, offline, years ago.

And it was attributed to Plato.
But OK, it looks like Plato may not have said it.

Whoever penned it, it is still a great message though.

And here is another one.....

"It is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness."

Chinese proverb
