I remember getting a flier for rural broadband once - promoted by the federal government. It was extortionate compared to the service I was already using Grin

- it only offered 1500 or slower and a laughable 250Mb per month. If they think that putting people on to that is actually a service to the community rather than a disservice, they need to get their attitudes adjusted.

For that particular communication, I chose the green option, and filed it in the appropriate place for recycling Grin

Mercedes, even in Dubbo you should be able to use mobile broadband , and it can be a reasonably cheap option.

yes my brother in law asked me about that rural broadband scheme, and when he sent me the details, I was amazed at the audacity that any company, let alone one with supposed government backing, could offer such obscenely expensive, and anachronistic plans, 250Mb downloads, that is insane.
Needless to say, he did not take up the offer, and is looking into cable options.
If they can do foxtel to the area, then they can do high speed broadband as well, 20MB per sec or better is standard for cable, and beats the heck out of 1.5

American friends of mine, who have come here have been amazed by our broadband bills. If Rudd is serious about extending broadband then perhaps he could look at the prices as well.
