One great Muslim woman would have to be Raheed Boratti, she stands out from the rest..

Never heard of her. As a matter of fact, Mr Google has never heard of her.

If that's the degree to which famous Muslim women stand out from the rest - then I rest my case.

I'm suprised you or Google haven't heard of her Soren..I have heard she is in fact 1st cousin to this guy..

Have you all heard of Sex and the City. Of course you have.

Have you heard of Soraya Manutchehri? No, you haven't, nor have I until an hour ago. There was even a movie made about her. Learn who she was here:

Mantra, annie, you should be worked up about this.

The stoning to death of women in Islamic countries is horrific and my heart breaks for Soraya. I'm not sure I can think of anything more barbaric. The thing is, it isn't Islam. There are no mentions of stoning in the Quran.

From the article you mention:

Quote:
They are arguing the violence against, and restrictions on, women in the name of Islam are not in fact Islamic

They're right. Women are being persecuted in Islamic countries because they belong to a culture who have misinterpreted the teachings of their religion. Most of the countries named in the article have such low literacy rates that it's a pretty safe bet to assume most people living there have never read the Quran, but instead rely on word of mouth accounts passed down from generation to generation.

Your argument is that there is no country in which Islam is not misrepresented. Which is to say that 'living Islam' is barbarous and inhuman. But you are not equal to your own insinuation because you do not understand what you are trying to wriggle out of.

Even this case only brings out your shallow, textbook western feminist response, notable for its utter cowardice. Sentences of stoning are passed by sharia courts. Only by sharia courts.
Your shameless excuse of 'oh, it's not in the Koran' is far worse than 'I don't give a damn'. Knowing what is and isn't in the Koran should make you knowledgable about what sharia is. It is Islamic law.  It is actual, living, correct, orthodox, the one and only possible Islamic law.

And by men. Only by men. Should I hate them too? Or should I realise that although some of them are twisted bastards, the majority are not. Just like muslims.

As long as you hate, Annie, that's the important thing.

Read Corinthians on hate. Paul recommended it, as did Jesus before him.

I bring to your attention that muslims still stone their women and you come back with a glib 'As long as you hate, Annie, that's the important thing.'
Noticing barbarity is now hateful.

SHaria judges are not illiterates or semi-literates. And the Koran does say that you are only worth half of me (2.282; 4.11, 4.34, 4.98, 4.176), so that's why there are no woemen in sharia courts.

The 'twisted bastards' you refer to are the ones who take the Koran and sharia utterly seriously. The majority, who largely ignore both the Koran and sharia (ie Islam) are the ones that have a chance to be like others.

Of course. Jesus didn't want you to search within (or cast out the beam in your own eye), he wanted you to notice everyone else's barbarity.

Maybe Karnal just notices (as I do) how your rabid hatred of Islam and Muslims makes debate with you tiresome. Do you even consider the value in any opinion that's opposed to your own? I'm sure you think you're witty with your baiting, but it wears thin after you repetitively recycle the same personal insults over and over again.

From memory, you've insulted me because of my gender, my feminism, my intelligence, courage...even my avatar. You have absolutely no credibility with me at all and until you stop behaving like a spoilt little boy in desperate need of a time out, I have no interest in engaging with you.

Turn the other cheek, Annie. There are no bad sinners, only bad sins. Jesus forgives all who truly repent.

Disagreement is not an insult. Finding contradiction between words and posture is not an insult. It IS possible for you to say stupid things and it IS possible for others to notice it.

I never asked you to engage with me. I said you should be worked up about women being stoned. If all you can come up with is that sharia law is a literacy issue and misrepresentation of Islam, then you are a textbook coward, even if a spoilt little boy says so.
