What public statements mean
May 26th, 2010 at 10:31pm

I've followed businesses for decades and believe I can read between the lines.
Here is one that MORE than raised my eyebrows.

Quote:
...............“From the government's side, some of the statistics that we have been confronted with in recent weeks can only be described as scandalous, totally scandalous,” Mr du Plessis said in Melbourne.

“Whether it is desperately trying to mislead people deliberately, or whether it is possibly incompetence or a bit of a mixture of both, I actually cannot tell you, but it is really awful.”................

the sprintys interperetation - " I don't trust this govt. Whatever coy I lead now and in the future we won't do any new business with them because they are untrustworthy."

It's from the Chairman of BHP.

Would you do business with anyone you distrusted ?

Simply a large corporation putting the people on notice that they can consider themselves living under a Corporatocracy.

Ever heard of demonstrating your respect for the will of the people by respecting the government the people chose, whether you like their choice or not...

When corporations issue blunt warnings by megaphone, they are not acting in the interests of the people nor respecting democracy... They are acting to secure their own profits. Whether that is good for the people or not is incidental.

Yes Helian, that would have been the reading between the lines I would have chosen if such a thing was necessary.

Amore simple formula I think sprint could have followed would have been

Chairman of BHP + public statement = Screw everyone that does not contribute to increasing the wealth of Chairman or BHP.

Quote:
... the 20th century has been characterized by three developments of great political importance: The growth of democracy, the growth of corporate power, and the growth of corporate propaganda as a means of protecting corporate power against democracy. Australian social scientist, quoted by Noam Chomsky in World Orders Old and New.

Seriously sprint, you really need to wind your anti-labor stance a notch or two, it is starting to get a bit freaky, obsessive.

You are quickly falling prey to the position of rusted on, and rusted ons are useless to all, because they have voluntarily surrendered their objectivity.

If you want to convince people of the incompetence displayed by Labor Federally, you have plenty of ammo you can use, but do not expect aussies to side with multinationals who are getting non-renewable resources, but do not want to abide by our governments new tax system.
This posturing by the mining companies is all about keeping millions more in their pockets, and less in yours and mine, and it is reducing us to third world, banana republic status, in the view of the corporate beanheads, if we complain that the blankets and beads are not enough.

The Libs are happy it seems, for these multinational behemoths to pay less company tax than your average battling small businessman, who is risking his own money, often including his home, to try and get ahead, but the Libs reckon because these bullies are so big, we should let them pay less than the rest of us.

I am with Labor in saying, bugger THAT!

bugger that?

I think our censoring program has a sexual orientation all of it's own, as my original expletive, while similiar in characteristic to the bugger that replaced it, was definitely not centred on the anal region.
So we may have a gay computer censorship program, well bugger me.

helian - yes, the chairman of BHP is concerned with BHP.
That's why he has that position.
he is entrusted to do what's best for BHP, that's his job.

he is saying, dealing with rudd is bad for BHP.
direct inplication :- they won't deal with rudd anymore.

mozzaok - I've been caleed rusted on for a long time.
The libs are not that good, they are not liberal enough
rudd is a disaster

Entrusted to make money for the company, not to consider the welfare of the people... That's the job of government.

He is saying "Any government that does not act in a manner large corporations expect and demand, we will use our connections, high profile and considerable cash reserves to bring it down..." And damn democracy, the welfare or the will of the people".

Remember the Oligarchy that quickly took control of the Russian Federation during Yeltsin's corrupt rule... It all but destroyed democracy in Russia... That's what happens when corporate chiefs are granted political power or unbridled influence of government...

Corporations and their chiefs are unelected bodies and therefore answer to no one other than their respective executive boards and shareholders. Their job is to make money for them and secure as much political, economic and social influence as they can.

This is the subtle propaganda that a supplicant media chooses to allow to go through to the keeper.....

So, is the media supplicant or not?!!?

I would say they are smarter than sprint: put it that way!
