Homeless mother
Sep 15th, 2010 at 1:13pm

Media is calling her a homeless mother.
But the children's father has offered to care for them, and she would rather keep them with her in a tent.

The welfare of the kids is paramount.  "Parents" should be shot for using the kids as a punishment / power / ego trip against their exes.

Right aussie, she needed to think about and do what is best for her children.

It's hard to say, we don't really know the full story. Why did she leave her husband etc? I've been involved with homeless people and it's usually never clean cut.
One and two nights emergency accommodation is retarded. I'd rather settle into tent life than sit most of the day at the emergency accommodation office/Centrelink for a bed for one night, then repeat it day after day, week after week, even month after month. No way, how degrading.

I agree pansi, two nights emergency accommodation is retarded. But
as a mother you have to do what is best for your children. It is hard for me to believe that sleeping in a tent could be considered best for the children. (well maybe it would be a bit more acceptable in warmer weather)

As a kid on the receiving end of that treatment I concur; should carry a mandatory jail term.

Politicians and Nappies need to be changed often and for the same reason.

One trouble with political jokes is that they often get elected.

If she has to move back into the tent when the emergency accommodation runs dry, it will probably have a worse effect on the children ie a nice comfy bed for two nights then back into the tent, that messes with their heads and it's cruel. We don't know the situation, maybe the mother does know what's best for her children.

It could be the media's intention to show them her a bad light, for entertainment value.

I never take anything the media says on face value.

You could always reshuffle the facts until it`s all the bloke`s fault.
Novel suggestion.

True, but what if it is just a matter of her swallowing her pride for the sake of her children? Sister in law did say that they had somewhere to go. You are right, we do not know the whole story. But if there is anywhere else for those children to be, then they should not be sleeping in a tent.
