Hey Nail - there was a toilet at Monash University that had some graffitti
above a toilet roll holder saying:

But the BA's are a stepping stone to becoming a lawyer in this country.

We need more useless lawyers to screw more people here Sad

The thing is Nail that if you get a BSc you end up being some
lab technician in a white coat getting paid less than the average wage.

Don't you need a BA now days to say "Do you want fries with that"????

There was a joke I heard years ago.....BA stands for Bugger All, and PhD stands for Piled Higher and Deeper ...

Yeah, but then, how much more effort (physical effort, and length of training) is required to become a licensed builder, as compared to a university degree???

Yeah, and lots of degrees are useless. If you can't get a decent job with your Indigenous studies or Arts degree blame yourself for taking the course.

Why do the conservatives always want education to cost more.

I would think that making education available to more people would be the best way to improve the nations productivity in the longer term.

The conservative ideology of educating the wealthy is well past its use by date.

We have interest free loans for goodness sake! Even if my degree costed $200k, I would still go to university and be able to pay it off! If you increase the price the only thing you would be discouraging are arts students. I definitely agree that making education available to more people is a good thing, and I think that a way to do this is to stop giving out student visas. In all of my classes at the moment, they're dominated by international students.

Degrees such as a BA or a BSc are almost worthless.
They can only be used to get your foot in the door for more studies.
You shouldn't have to pay for rubbish like that.
Arts and science are only if you want a  dead end low paid job.

I reckon people shouldn't even be applying to rubbish degrees like this if they choose useless majors.

thanks to the libbos killing off manufacturing and R&D there is less and less need for science in Australia. The libbos attitude is that science and technology is some other countries responsibility. We just dig the crap out of the ground and flog it off for a song and flog overpriced property to punters who can least afford it (

Manufacturing likely would have prospered in Australia if the Labor party didn't dump workchoices.

Granted, but to get a BA or BsC is like 4 years...but a Master Builder is minimum of 10 years....why shouldn't a Master Builder get MORE than a 'paper' degree???

If you get a 'dodgy' BA, you just can't think of any good theories....if you get a 'dodgy' Master Builder's cert, the house falls down....

Workchoices was nothing more than a tool.  Given to employers in order to cut wages and/or conditions.

Man, some people here clearly haven't been to a university to study for a long while, if at all.
