Why do the conservatives always want education to cost more.
I would think that making education available to more people would be the best way to improve the nations productivity in the longer term.
The conservative ideology of educating the wealthy is well past its use by date.
We have interest free loans for goodness sake! Even if my degree costed $200k, I would still go to university and be able to pay it off! If you increase the price the only thing you would be discouraging are arts students. I definitely agree that making education available to more people is a good thing, and I think that a way to do this is to stop giving out student visas. In all of my classes at the moment, they're dominated by international students.

Degrees such as a BA or a BSc are almost worthless.
They can only be used to get your foot in the door for more studies.
You shouldn't have to pay for rubbish like that.
Arts and science are only if you want a dead end low paid job.
I reckon people shouldn't even be applying to rubbish degrees like this if they choose useless majors.

thanks to the libbos killing off manufacturing and R&D there is less and less need for science in Australia. The libbos attitude is that science and technology is some other countries responsibility. We just dig the crap out of the ground and flog it off for a song and flog overpriced property to punters who can least afford it (
Manufacturing likely would have prospered in Australia if the Labor party didn't dump workchoices.
