And yet another boatload of illegal asylum seekers has been discovered.
And they will be transferred to the Death Zone, Christmas Island.

Yes they do arrive in monotonous regularity, and eventually another disaster will eventuate.
SO what will Julia Gillard's comment be when more people die?
And if this is also captured on camera!
What will be her response?
Will it be more of the burying the head in the sand and therefore what can't be seen doesn't exist?

Surely Julia Gillard knows that she is skating on thin ice.
And that the public saw through her flimsy excuse/attempt to try and blame the Navy for her own policy failures, so she can't blame the Navy.

That's "fantastic" news - "the more boats that come the better"!

You Libs must be soooooo pleased that you can squawk some more!

A cable obtained by WikiLeaks and provided to Fairfax says an unnamed "key Liberal Party strategist" told US diplomats in November last year that the issue of asylum seekers was "fantastic" for the coalition and "the more boats that come the better".

ha.ha.ha. likewise nem it gives you something to suck on doesnt it??.. what would you do without a little bit of bile to throw at the libs... no matter how trivial

nothing much for you to brag about its there????

I bet you are all praying this NBN will be a cracker...so far you havent had a lot to put smiles on your faces have you?..lol..

they promised so much and delivered so little..

This whole boat people scenario is wearing a bit thin now.

The story kinda bores me a bit.

Just piss them all off, don't let any in and send 'em all back to whence they came.

They're pretty useless to anyone anyway.

Yeah.

Andrei's bored with other peoples misery and suffering. Who cares about drowned children? He got a speeding ticket on the weekend.

Why isnt there a thread about THAT?

The boat people weren't suffering or undergoing misery from where they came from.
The babies only drowned because of Julia Gillard's encouragement to the illegal boat people.

I don't think anyone is denying that these people don't come from hellholes Jay.

Thing is though, why is it our responsibility to look after them or accept them?

How many countries between Australia and Iraq??

Plenty.

I just object to having to pay for every man and his burqua to turn up to Australia, UK or the US - wherever I live, it's just plain old wrong.

They country shop. You can't deny that.

You country shop. Like your parents and grandparents before you.

You also evade taxes. You use tax havens.

You also claimed the Baby Bonus in Oz, then left.

You're a selfish git. You can't deny that.

PS Didn't you claim that your penultimate country shopping detour included Canada!?

There is NOTHING wrong with country shopping to gain the best for your family.

The KEY DIFFERENCE is that you should use the correct channels, you have something to offer the country, you have skills, you have assets etc etc

In none of the countries I (or my family before me) have lived have we just TURNED UP AND DEMANDED TO BE LET IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you can't see the difference between skilled workers with net assets and dirty urchins who offer nothing but a cash liability then you are blind as a bat.

Crikey, you've outdone yourself again - that was both cringeworthy and frameworthy...

Answer me this, honestly -

Do these boat people cost Australia when they arrive or are they self sufficient (which by the way is a key criteria of a skilled work permit)?

It's a simple question needing an answer.

Do they cost Australia or not?

Yes or No?

Do they enrich Australia or not?

Yes, not that you'd be capable of computing that!

Here's another question that needs a totally honest answer.

Why do these so called refugees go through several other countries unmolested to reach Australia. Their neighbours need to look after these guys if they are truly refugees. They are not our responsibility no matter what the left says about it. Kick em to the curb. Turn them around or put them in detention until they decide to go home.

That wasn't the question.

Do they cost Australia when they come to Australia or are they self sufficient like is a requirement of skilled migrants?

If you're not able to answer the question just say so, rather than answer your own one.

If you are saying that they culturally enrich us, the answer is no, though I suppose that is a subjective call.

If they enrich the quality of interpersonal relations in this country, the answer is an UNEQUVIOCAL NO.

Sorry Equitist. Whether or not some of them are economically good for this society, it is a stretch to say beyond that that they're 'good' for this country. I don't think they are at all.
