Not FROM Victoria, ARE you

Much of Victoria was OFFICIALLY in drought since 1998 (some regions since 1996) till December 2011

Melbourne's reservoirs are STILL only half full

Look what we threw away ....

buzzanddidj wrote on Dec 1st, 2010 at 11:45am:
The development of Victoria’s Water Grid will help Victoria to better manage supply risks. The Sugarloaf Pipeline is an important new addition to this grid and connects Melbourne’s water supply system with the Goulburn River system. It was completed in February 2010.

In 2010, the pipeline will deliver 75 billion litres of water to Melbourne, from several sources.

From 2011 on, the pipeline will deliver Melbourne its share of savings achieved under Stage 1 of the Northern Victoria Irrigation Renewal Project (NVIRP). Once Stage 1 is completed at the end of 2012, it is expected to save an average of 225 billion litres of water a year.

As with all water allocations in Northern Victoria, the actual amount saved each year will vary, depending partly on rainfall and inflow conditions. Savings generated in a year also depend on how much water is delivered and what modernisation works have been completed.

Each year the amount will be split three ways between Melbourne, irrigators and the environment. Melbourne's allocation will be capped at 75 billion litres per year while in 'wet' years, irrigators and the environment could receive greater allocations.

... and look what we got

But no need to fret - only 1360 days to go

4. Withholding funding to Melbourne University if it refuses to fudge the findings of its national parks cattle "trial"

5. Suggesting scrapping a cancer treatment centre as part of heath funding "re-scoping"

6. Over 100 enquiries - over ONE A DAY

Central west mate, how is a desal plant going to help them?

2002/03 is when much of Victoria was declared in drought.

Without getting OVERLY scientific, desalination plants make drinking quality water from sea water

And where is the water from the desal plant to be piped/shipped to?

Somehow I dont think the Central West.

Bit like the north south pipeline hey, lets plan to pump a heap of water from where we grow food to Melbourne so we can water parks and gardens.

From your own article

‘‘We sorted it out and discussed what we meant and we put it to rest. We are in agreement now about how to take these things, so there is no threat and I don’t think there was one intended either,’’ Dr Bossinger said.

As for your cancer centre allegation, they have said there is a black hole and need to find the funding.  They havent said they are scrapping it.

On your private schools jibe, you have continuosly avioded my question about how much do private schools receive in funding compared to state schools?

I know exactly what its like to live in rural areas during drought my friend, and I know that 8 years ago was still a bumper harvest, and the 5 prior to that.

I can't speak for NSW, but Victoria's reservoirs are connected to each other via pipeline systems - encapturing the Wonthaggi desalination plant

Victoria's elite education sector recieves LESS taxpayer funding than their poor public cousins

Public funding of schools should be on a NEED basis - not a VOTE basis

The very fact they would for a MOMENT consider scrapping this almost complete cancer treatment centre.
while spending five times that sponsoring rowing teams in private schools,
is reprehensible
