He can't HELP it
He gets SO much material handed to him

There must be a lot of Victorians in a state of ENVY this morning
On a bit deeper scrutiny, O'Farrell seems to be somewhat of a moderate - and a reasonably decent sort of guy and humanitarian (despite his political colour)

Richard Dalla-Riva confirms story that he spied on neighbours

VEXNEWS
March 5, 2011

Victoria’s Manufacturing Minister Richard Dalla-Riva has finally admitted claims made by VEXNEWS two years ago and repeated in the Victorian Parliament this week that he used Police databases to spy on his neighbours.

He insists that this was justified because he was investigating letterbox bombings of his home in 1993. Today’s Aged newspaper reports that he has confirmed our initial report and – perhaps showing signs of strain – said he would be “vowing to push for an anti-corruption investigation into the Labor frontbencher (James Merlino)” who repeated some elements of the VEXNEWS story during this colourful week in state politics.

A minister interfering in investigations of the yet to be established Independent Commission Against Corruption would probably be putting his job in serious jeopardy, the whole point of these bodies apparently being that they operate independently of ministerial whim.

So he’d better watch that, and we understand RDR will be counselled against such outbursts by the Baillieu/Cafagna hierarchy this morning.

Leaving that aside, and there are questions about the timing of the spying that are unresolved, now that he has admitted our central claim, the obvious question arises how did we know?

While we are obliged to protect source’s confidentiality what we can disclose for the first time is that
Dalls-Riva’s wife, Sadie
, apparently also in law enforcement, has boasted to her neighbours of the fact that this checking of the neighbourhood had occurred. While we won’t name our source or the identity of the neighbour, we remain in contact with the former and their recollections – when we checked this week – are unchanged.

This is the most positive aspect you can locate within the Baillieu Government ?

It should be pointed out, here, the slur you refer to was thrown out of court - and
the accuser successfully sued for defamation

On the contrary - the most positive aspects I can think of is that we the people, yes you and I the ordinary folk from Victoria - booted out a Government that had delivered -

+ A healthcare system described as 'embarrassing' and a 'shambles' by those in the know.
+ Delivered a health system years over budget and millions in the red - whilst delivering nothing.
+ Myki transport system - millions upon millions of our money wasted on a botched programme.
+ Ignored all of our environmental fears and dredged our bay - having lawful protestors arrested if they got in the way
+ Buily a desalination plant that will not be used for years and leaves us with a decade of debt.
+ A police service rife with corruption from top to bottom - allowing people allegedly under surveillance for 24 hrs per day to be killed and not discovered for half an hour in a Cat A prison. Not to mention the court cases amongst senior VIC police officers.
+ Did nothing about rising stamp duty - leaving ordinary first homebuyers like me and my wife forking out close to $80,000 to the Government to do precisely nothing.

Need I go on.

A terrible Government and if you want the best thing that happened this year?

WE THE PEOPLE told them to bugger off!

It's interesting Bobby.

Buzz finally came to agreement that he and I are from very similar backgrounds - but it suggests I have moved away from being drip-fed by the Labor Party what I should think - whereas he hasn't.

I guess its all about how you lead and develop your life.

TAXPAYER-FUNDED projects worth billions of dollars inherited from the former Labor government have been shelved or remain in limbo under Premier Ted Baillieu -
placing future investment in Victorian projects at risk.

The Victorian Employers' Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Chris James said the government had to be prudent in assessing projects for taxpayer value, but
sovereign risk
and the investment climate required consideration.

Mon Mar 21, 2011

Pacific Hydro has told the Financial Review it will not introduce any new projects to Victoria, under the new planning rules introduced by the Coalition Government.

The company has $250-million of projects underway across Victoria.

The rules hand planning control to local governments and include tougher requirements for wind farms placed within two kilometres of houses.

I work for a company that spent $600m last year on R&D into renewable and cleaner energy initiatives.

Yep $600 MILLION!

A LIBERAL staffer who splurged
$906 on a cab ride
from Wodonga to Melbourne boasted on Facebook:
"I don't do buses."

Adam Wyldeck, who works for Victorian Liberal MP Sophie Mirabella, provided taxi fare updates on Facebook as he travelled to the airport on Sunday.

"Not even in Melbourne yet and the cab fare is sitting at $756," he wrote.

After a Facebook friend asked whether he could have caught a bus, Mr Wyldeck replied: "I don't do buses."

He said he couldn't go by rail because
"trains left way too early".

"It's just how I roll,"
he wrote.

When people on Facebook questioned the trip as a blatant waste, Mr Wyldeck urged them not to make assumptions, but wrote
"democracy isn't cheap"
.
