Hi Jack,
The rules in Aus are slightly different for IDP's,
They are not a requirement when visiting here, you can drive on your own license for a 3 month period (in most states)  if you are from an exempt country and/or if your license is in english and/or you have a cetified translation of your license.
simple so far but here is where it gets tricky.
Not all car hire companies will rent a vehicle if you do not have an IDP. Not all insurance companies will insure you if you do not have an IDP
I drive in quite a few countries I do not need an IDP in most, but again there is a requirement by the car rental companies AND Insurance companies to hold a IDP. So it makes life so much easier if you have an IDP.

I have a vehicle overseas I am the registered owner and as I am not a full time resident of that country I am required to hold an IDP for my car insurance to be current.

And your'e right Hicks won't come back because he knows he is wrong. Grin

Where did you get that information? Is it a copy and paste from RACQ? If so do they know how to spell 'licence' 'certified and of course 'you're' mistake.

Hicks did come back so I guess you a re WRONG

Not obsessed with him at all, Just don't like people who openly state that they break the law and laugh about it and claim that they are within there rights to do so.
I have shown (using Hick's own link) that he was an unlicensed driver
so again you are wrong.

As to the RACQ, who made the claim that they made the law? I certainly didn't.
They didn't even get a mention until you butted in trying in vain to save Hick's ass.

The same way the said police officers hey.

About two doesnt mean two.  It could well mean two on some, two on most?

If I say I will have about two people lined up to help me on a job it means it could be anywhere from 1 to 3.

The words were "about two.  It doesnt guareentee two, and at no time was two ever in the policy.

Are you prepared to accept you have this wrong yet, and that Brumby promised 2000 front line police officers yet?

[size[color=#ff0
000]=16]ABOUT TWO DOESNT GUAREENTEE TWO ARE EVERY STATION LIKE YOU HAVE CLAIMED

Mr Baillieu said announcements on the number of trains needed in Victoria would come later, and said ticket prices would not be affected by the pledge for more officers at stations, which would enable about two officers per station.

TALK ABOUT SELECTIVE READING.  TRY SOME HONESTY BUZZ, OR DONT YOU LIKE BEING SHOWN UP IN YOUR SMEAR CAMPAIGN.

Brumbys police state has flopped, and now that it has, the dirts coming out in the wash.

Cool The man was a megalomaniac, I still cant believe he denied knowledge of the MOU between the Police and  AFL.

Perhaps, his idea of a 2000 front-line police force was to supplement it with St Kilda's front-rowers, complements of the AFL guard.

Like I said before, give Baillieu a chance.

Brumby had a crack at it, and failed miserably, so lets give Baillieu a chance.

Change wont happen over night, so lets not expect an incoming premier to solve an entire states dilemmas overnight...Gosh, what a daunting prospect.

Given the state of Victoria.

Roll Eyes

Remember, they have been in Labors grips for the last 15 years, so...don't expect miracles in the first month.

The "

Quote:
Victoria leads states in jobs growth

Tim Colebatch
November 12, 2010

VICTORIA has added more jobs over the past four years than any other state, with 278,000 more people in work than at the time of the last state election.

Jobs figures released yesterday by the Bureau of Statistics show that Australia's buoyant jobs growth continued in October, with employers adding almost 30,000 jobs in seasonally adjusted terms.

On the more reliable trend figures used to analyse state data,
Victoria has added 95,000 jobs in the past year, with jobs growing 3.5 per cent in the state, compared with 3.2 per cent growth in the nation.

Over the past four years, the bureau reports that
Victoria has enjoyed the biggest jobs growth in the nation in absolute terms
, and the third fastest growth behind the Northern Territory and Western Australia.

''Victoria is Australia's jobs engine room,'' Treasurer John Lenders declared.
''Not only have we achieved the 150,000 jobs target promised at the last election, we have created 138,000 more jobs than promised and more than any other state.''

Oh, and since you havent wont this one, you drag out the Kennett issue.  Well done mate.  You actually posted something that is correct for once, but its irrelevant.

An AVERAGE of TWO, apparently
It may be NONE on some
It may be four on others

But the decision rests with the Police Commissioner
Not the premier
