PENSIONERS and other concession card holders would save up to $100 on their electricity costs under a Coalition Government.
Opposition leader Ted Baillieu has pledged $350 million to provide a 17.5 per cent reduction on electricity bills.

The plan would see the reduction run year round, as opposed to the Government's plan to provide a rebate for part of the year.

Mr Baillieu said the costs of living had skyrocketed under Premier John Brumby's watch.

"Victorians, especially those on fixed incomes, are struggling with day-to-day living costs that are increasing at an alarming rate," Mr Baillieu said.

Mr Baiilieu said an extension to the current winter electricity concessions would provide relief for older Victorians and Victorians with health care concession cards.

And look where it's ending up ...

HUNDREDS of power customers have directly petitioned power companies to slash their charges as Victorians face hikes of up to $150 from January 1.
Hundreds of thousands of Victorian households will be forced to pay up to $150 more for electricity and gas supplies from January 1.

Today more than 500 people had already signed the Herald Sun petition to power bosses urging some relief, while an overwhelming (97 per cent) voting in our online poll believe that rising prices are putting an excessive burden on homes and businesses.

The New Year pain will wipe out much of the power relief promised by Premier Ted Baillieu, who revealed just a day ago he was planning to bring forward discounts for pensioners and battling families

AGL, Origin and TRUEnergy remain Victoria's most dominant energy retailers despite competition from several smaller players.

Between them they have more than two million residential and business electricity and gas accounts.

TRUEnergy, which lifted tariffs in May this year, is still reviewing its rates.

The Herald Sun yesterday revealed the Baillieu Government was considering bringing forward to January 1 promised year-round electricity bill discounts for more than 700,000 concession card holding homes. Mr Baillieu is considering doubling the annual discount for card holders with an annual power bill of $1000 to almost $170.

54 pages of a dummy spit.

Buzz are you trying to confirm the long held belief we have in England that Australians are terrible losers?

We thought it was just in sport, but you seem intent on showing how bad it is in general.

You've not taken this trouncing too well have you??

Take public transport, one of the big negatives for John Brumby and Labor. Throughout the campaign, Baillieu talked of commuters being squeezed in ''like sardines'' on trains. His big promise was to buy
40 more trains
for the suburban network. But the fine print reveals that
only seven of those
will be on the tracks during his first term.
Commuters be warned: Baillieu will not ''fix'' the public transport system any time soon.

Take health, another portfolio on which Baillieu relentlessly attacked the Labor government. The Coalition's headline promise was
800 new public hospital beds across the state over the next four years.

But the Australian Medical Association warns that that would be only a start: the system will
not be able to cope with the demands on it unless there are 200 new beds each year for the next decade.

All the while, Victoria's population will continue to grow and age. Melbourne, in particular, will continue to experience ''growing pains'' - and Victorians will expect their new premier to do something about it.

Welcome to the big office, Mr Baillieu.

800 new beds it still better than Bumbys none.

7 new trains in 4 years, plus 33 more there after is still better.

Is this a "we can do better", or a "we have to fix all of labors stuff ups and if we cant 100% we have failed because Brumby lost the unlosable election and Buzz is very bitter as a result".

X'Trapolis train manufacturing under way in Ballarat
Tue, 31 Aug 2010

Alstom Transport and UGL Rail have started manufacturing X’Trapolis trains for Melbourne suburban network operator Metro Train at their factory in Ballarat as part of a local content agreement boosting jobs in the state’s manufacturing industry.

The 38 train set contract includes assembly of 19 trains and the manufacture of another 19.

“The initial assembly and manufacture of associated parts will result in 135 new jobs for Victoria – 65 new jobs at Ballarat’s UGL Rail factory as well as 70 additional direct new jobs through supply chain activity,” said Victorian Minister for Industry and Regional Development, Jacinta Allen.

The manufacturing facility in Ballarat could be expanded if Alstom Australia and UGL Rail win the contract to supply
50 new Citadis trams
to Melbourne.

Labor pledges 941 new hospital beds
November 15, 2010

Victorian Labor is continuing its campaign of trump politics, promising
941 new hospital beds
if re-elected.

Premier John Brumby made the promise at Frankston Hospital today, outdoing the Coalition's pledge last week of 800 new beds.

Labor's extra beds include 327 out of a new $746 million package for capital works projects at Victorian hospitals.

Some 444 beds have been locked in under the federal health agreement, while the government has revealed an extra 170 would flow from last week's $1.5 billion hospitals announcement.

Mr Brumby said Labor would undertake the biggest hospital building project in the state's history.

"It's about upgrading hospitals, it means more jobs in construction, it means more patients being treated and of course it means more new hospital beds," he told reporters.

Opposition Leader Ted Baillieu has promised 800 new beds separate to the federal government deal, which the opposition has yet to commit to honouring
.

'big font buzz'.  clearly the biggest baddest loser of them all on here.  It never ends. the whinging goes on unabated. Imagine what the old girl buzzard wil be like when Gillard loses federally? she will be beside herself.

Buzz, you are a disgrace and continuing to embarrass yourself on an almost daily basis. From the moment you denigrated as 'rogue' any polls that showed labor in a bad light, you began the quick slide into utter stupidity and irrelevancy.

It is quite laughable watching 'buzz's daily whine'

The ALP had over a decade to do it and didnt, why should the election be a trigger.

Considering the number of promises they broke, sorry if I dont believe the ALP would have delievered it.

Yet STILL you fail to defend Lord Baillieu's snow job on a sector of gullible Victorians

You haven't DISPUTED any postings

Instead, resorting to gay jibes and personal attacks
You've never managed to lift your game - have you ?

Would you care to give us a ball-park figure on the number of threads you have started on your lack of acceptence of the Federal Government ?

YOUR contant 'whinging' about "Gillard this .... Gillard that .... "

And ANYONE who disagrees with you is is a "moron" or "idiot"

I've managed to confine complaints on the Baillieu Government's spendathon, shortcomings and lack of experience to one thread

Buzz he is right though - this thread is utterly pathetic and you are embarrassing yourself how badly you seem to take a Government being kicked out.

At the end of the day the Labor Government was poor, it let people down.

They kicked them out.

End.

No need to go on a 55 page tantrum about it.

You dont get it, do you? Labor lost. get over it. there is only ONE poster with a 55 page cry-fest over his side losing an election. And you can hardly expect people to treat you seriously when you criticise both keeping AND breaking election promises.
