krudd gets his own back on joolya

Quote:
FOREIGN Minister Kevin Rudd yesterday mounted a strong defence of Julian Assange's legal rights.
The WikiLeaks founder is preparing to face court in London early Wednesday morning (AEDT).

Mr Rudd said he was prepared to intervene to have a laptop computer provided for Mr Assange in London's Wandsworth prison to help the Australian prepare his defence and obtain bail at his appearance at Westminster Magistrates Court.

Following suggestions by Julia Gillard and Attorney-General Robert McClelland that Mr Assange may have his Australian passport cancelled, Mr Rudd said any such decision was his as Foreign Minister. "Under law, I'm responsible for the Passports Act, therefore the decisions concerning the withdrawal or otherwise of passports rests exclusively with the foreign minister based on the advice of the relevant agencies," Mr Rudd told The Australian in Cairo...........

Mr Rudd laid the bulk of the blame for the leaks on the US.

"Let's not mince words that their diplomatic communication system was inadequately protected," he said.

He also gave backing to comments by Ms Gillard , for which the Prime Minister has been criticised as many thought she was referring to Mr Assange, that there had been illegality in the WikiLeaks affair. "Well, as I've looked carefully at the statements made by the Prime Minister on these questions it's quite clear that the Prime Minister was expressing concerns about the illegality of actions which in my view refer to stuff in the United States," he said.

Same story, nice try

Some posters around this place are hillarious. It's like they so desperately want things to be a certain way that they will over look pretty much everything in an attempt to convince themselves it is indeed that way.

The opening post in this thread is a clear example of one such poster.

Translation: Oh I am just so important.
Well Kevin Rudd needs to be reminded as to just whom puts him in that ministerial position in the first place.
If Julia Gillard wishes to issue, cancel passports then it wouldn't be that difficult for her at all. And then it would leave Kevin Rudd completely out of the picture.

We were thinking more along the lines that you are hillarious. You still think that the Federal Labor Goverment is illegitimate.

If it is illegitmate why doesn't the opposition take to to the High Court?

Rudd is doing a pretty good job on this what I have seen so  far.
As for Julia…she is tough on these things…but she has a country to run & protect.
