I'll get back to ya on this one maqqa when I find the details of what Abbott had installed  ( responsibility wise in this area also) for the navy !!

...on dial up that may take more than a moment.

We can see that you`ve totally missed the point veg.  Now if you come back with something so incredibly silly again, that we`ll all be struck speechless, you will have won some sort of point.

But the blame doesn't belong to the navy. SIEV221 would never have set sail if not for the Rudd government's needless meddling with Howard-era policies which had worked effectively since late 2001 to stop the boats, deprive people-smugglers of business and prevent such loss of life. The tragedy was inevitable the moment those policies were dismantled.

So determined were the Howard-haters to demonise their nemesis they became blind to the humanitarian benefits of his difficult decisions.

This is the core of the matter Nichy, people who put their own touchy feely, feel good, wine bar "humanitarianism" above reality, and the higher risks of others, are to blame for these deaths, and others like them.

That is so true aussie -  I think the old adage, "Sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind" is the crux of this matter.
