80% sure...prove me wrong then....(since 16 IS the age of consent, there's unlikely to be any reference to 'underage girls' that includes age 16..)

The AFL’s Child Protection Policy of 2009 says:

‘Child abuse relates to children (a person under 18 years old) at risk of harm, usually by adults, sometimes by other children, and often by those they know and trust.’

It also says: ‘Sexual abuse by adults or other children where a child is encouraged or forced to watch or engage in sexual activity or where a child is subject to any other inappropriate conduct of a sexual nature (e.g. sexual intercourse, masturbation, oral sex, pornography including child pornography or inappropriate touching or conversations).

‘Irrespective of whether the legal age of consent in VIC is 16, the AFL Policy on Child Protection addresses children for their policy as being Under 18! How then can these footballers be cleared by the AFL when they have breached AFL policy?

Maybe they are taking a moral stand against unjust laws and tyranny? When they're drafted at 17, it surely is unjust to say they can't have relationships with their peers.

WHEN INJUSTICE BECOMES LAW, REBELLION BECOMES DUTY!

I guess the cougars going after the 17 year old draftees get an exemption from the AFL policy!

Or do the anti-AFL dills feel that it's ok for cougars to go after children, and for cougars to have sex with children?
Is that now all of a sudden AOK?
That is, it's ok for older women to have sex with children.

I am almost sure had the club kept its mouth shut this wouldnt have exploded like it has.. maybe offer some help instead they threatened to make her pay for the next 15 years.. WoW. really nice.

You've excused her masquerading as an adult as being acceptable.

The timing may prove critical in the end - but I have read conflicting news reports about the timing of the initial exchange of phone numbers...

That said, if the footballers knew she was only in Year 10 (being the most senior year involved in the school sports program), then: in addition to breaching their professional and community obligations, by fornicating with the girl, they have also broken the law if they have supplied her with alcohol (and/or other drugs) at any stage...
