Which version of Islam you discussing?
Mainstream or Takfiri?
S'unni or Sh'ite or Wahabbi or Sufi?
Salafist?
So many to choose from, all with different interpretations of the Q'ran.
Why do you assume one source talks for all?
More to the point - why do I find myself, in Australia, caught up in the bloody internal dispute of Islam as to what they think is the meaning of the Koran??
No matter where you are, Muslims bring
their conflicts into your life, whether you want it or not.
You are able to lead a life in blessed ignorance of whatever internal disputes other religions and ethnicities have. You can ignore them and lead blameless lives.
But Islam' internal conflict will touch you an there is nowhere to go to avoid it. They will shove their grievances in your face, they will not let you ignore them.
They even have non-Muslims like you going around shoving Islam's interminable inner conflicts into everyone's faces. There is no smacking getting away from Islam and it's convulsions.
You can live to be a hundred and never bother about the tension between orthodox and reform Jews. If you are not interested in the Anglican communion's internal disputes, you can live a happy life and avoid it without any difficulty.
Are you totally fvcken sick and fed to the back teeth of hearing about Islam? Sorry pal, you are not getting away from hearing about it endlessly. Everywhere you go, Islam's internal conflict will follow you, whether you are interested or not.
