Auto-Electricians 'can be' twice to thrice as much as a conventional Mechanic.
Then you'll have to face the fact that not many Auto-Electricians will be up to scratch with these Electrical Cars for at least 10 years, so it will be like the Plasma TV scenario - where you had to do a costly return to Nippon or something ...or just buy a new one, which is what they want as well.
Hence why Plasmas are all watching the pavements these days.

yes but what is likely to go wrong with them ? There is a just a motor, set of batteries and a motor controller with sophisticated diagnostic software on board. No need to pay an unqualified auto electrician for anything. There is just no maintenance on these types of cars

I think Nail you will be suprised the number of families going to bigger cars like the Captiva, Territory, Kia Carnivals etc due to the requirements of car seats for kids up to now age 7 (from memory).

The Falcon and commodores are no longer any good for the 2.3 kid family as you struggle to fit three car seats in them.

But you already knew that was a major factor in the depleation of the key target market didnt you.

The poor quality of Aussie built cars is common knowledge these days so it is no wonder people are flocking to buy Japanese and Western European built cars.
Holdens answer to the small car market is to import a 3rd rate piece of junk from Korea in pieces and build it here..what a joke.
As for Ford, you may as well tear up your money and flush it down the dunny.
The only problem with buying Japanese cars at the moment is the long wait because of the disasters that have befallen the country but I would rather wait 3 mths for a new Japanese car than waste my money on an Aussie built piece of junk that I can have in a day.
My opinion on the Aussie car industry is..good riddence to bad rubbish
