Polls of Egyptians have shown that yes about 80% of them support Shari'ah law being implemented, not just in Egypt but across the entire Muslim world.
I would think Tunisians, Libyans, Syrians and others would be pretty much the same, hence the reason the West has worked so hard to prevent their self-determination for so long, contrary to the public claims of wanting popularly elected leaders.
I agree. The other reason, of course, is that it's a resource-rich region. Why else would the world forgive Ghadafi?
But on this note, what makes a Ghadafi better or worse than a bin Laden? Do you support, for example, so-called terrorist attacks or paybacks like Lockerbie?
Why is bin Laden a freedom fighter and Ghadafi isn't?
The Egyptians should be able to create whatever laws they want in their own country. Keep in mind, however, that certain aspects of Shariah might render tham bankrupt - like ursury laws. Anyway, I see no reason why Shariah law can't change like any other form of jurisprudence, however this is implimented (although I think this is a fantasy).
As much as Egyptians might want Shariah law, I doubt very much that they'd want Al Qaeda.
