Has Mr Abbott Peaked Too Soon
Jun 26th, 2011 at 10:21am

No, not talking about Mr Abbott having premature ejeculation issues, that would be discussed on a medical discussion board and not here.

Am talking about the polls ... Mr Abbott has nothing left in his box of tricks since he has thrown everything to try and topple the minority government and Mr Abbott has failed.

Carbon tax not yet a done deal - Greens

The full details of the government's carbon tax won't be finalised for weeks, Australian Greens leader Bob Brown says.

'It's a work still in progress,' Senator Brown told ABC 1 on Sunday.

When asked how far away the agreement was, he said: 'I'd say weeks rather than days.

'I am full of optimism about this. I've got my feet on the ground.'

He again rejected suggestions the Greens were essentially dragging Labor towards what they wanted, rather than negotiating.

'It's not going to a Greens outcome, it's going to be a composite.'

Senator Brown said once agreement was reached, it would be a powerful weapon to use against Opposition Leader Tony Abbott.

Are we about to witness the fall of the fourth liberal leader in a row?

Has Abbott peaked early, now has no where to go but down?

Abbott's tax cuts

Sunday, June 26, 2011

Prime Minister Julia Gillard has wasted no time in responding to Tony Abbott's promise of tax cuts, calling it baseless.

Referring to the Opposition Leader's promise made at a conference in Canberra, the PM told reporters at a Labor conference in Perth, money doesn't grow on trees - calling on Mr Abbott to explain where he'll take the money from for his promises.

Ms Gillard says her government's compensation package will be funded through the carbon tax on Australia's biggest polluters .. and it will be targeted at those who need it most

http://bigpondnews.com/articles/TopStories/2011/06/26/Gillard_rejects_Abbotts_ta...

The Opposition Leader was asked on the ABC's 7.30 Report last night about his promise this year not to propose any new taxes, which he reneged on a month later by announcing a levy to fund paid parental leave.

Mr Abbott said his scripted remarks could be taken as "gospel truth" but, "in the heat of discussion you go a little bit further".

Let the record reflect Buzz predicted a huge re-election for Kevin Rudd's Labor federally and a re-election of John Brumby's Labor in Victoria.

Neither happened.

0 for 2 its called in America Buzz.

Honestly, at times, your understanding of opinion polls is positively HORRID

So your view of today's opinion polls giving Labor a support of between 27% - 30% across the board is what??

A slight abberation?

Or a view (which I hold) that is Government is positively incompetent and not listening to people?

No, that would be detracting too much from Tony Abbott's cynically self-serving efforts, to drag our political system into disrepute and disdain - not to mention his recklessly-divisive efforts to sabotage our society and economy, by talking-up bigotry and civil revolution and talking-down both business and consumer confidence!

Yet, some people still seem to think this erratic and destructive born-to-rule nutjob can be entrusted to lead the nation, as PM and international statesman - go figure!?

Sure, few would dispute that Abbott has been enabled, aided and abetted by partisan media moguls but the buck stops with him and his Party - as much as it does with the actions and inactions of the Labs, Greens and Independents - as will ultimately be reflected in the results of the next election!

Lamenting the shift in the Australian psyche, away from the egalitarian ideal of the fair-go - and the rise of short-sighted pollies, who worship the 'Growth Fairy' and seek to divide and conquer!

The Government would "get done" "if an election were held today"

As I believe they will, in 2013
If they can shove through enough reform, with the Greens, I will be MORE than happy

Changes in government affect me NOT, personally, in the SLIGHTEST

As  you KNOW
I am self funded - and self sufficient

I suggest no one under estimate the Labor Party ... as you shouldn't under estimate a bear with a sore head.

Two and a half years, a premature burst from Mr Abbott, and a carbon price done and dusted ... and a range of new issues at the next election, like coal seam gas.

Remember coal seam gas could split the coalition if the Nats decide to side with the Greens and regional, rural and city Australia over siding with the coal lobby and the Liberals. The Coalition splits and some of their support will shift back to ALP.

Has Mr Abbott peaked too soon ... Yes, and he knows it.

The lefties just cant see through their narrow little looking glass. Shame for them as it must be quite a shock and downer to see your party only win 30% of the vote and that being the diehard of diehards and greens being put back in the closet where they belong.

Yet in NSW, leading the opposition to the hard right is the Greens lower house representative David Shoebridge.

How can Greens be in the closet when Greens are getting so much constructive media exposure?

Media exposure is good. That allows the greens to show what they stand for. People will see them for what they are. Extremists.

Media attention does not give them power, if that is what your refering to.

No way. He will be the next PM, no doubt about it. He doesn't have to do much. JuLIAR is pretty much handing it to him by her incompetence.
