Cows shot, tortured, left to die on Kalgoorlie sta

ONE of the cows found shot near a Kalgoorlie cattle station this morning had its throat slit and its back legs cut off.

The five cows were found shot, but still alive, with beer cans stuck in their mouths and cigarettes in their eyes at the Mt Monger Cattle Station, about 50km east of Kalgoorlie, this morning.

For those who think it is just animals. Anita Cobby's killers started on animals. If someone can do this to animals, the next step is people.

These things happen, because our children are being taught that the concepts of 'good' and 'evil' have no meaning.

i.e.

'If it feels good, it is OK to do it.'

Our children are being taught that self gratification, is the highest ideal.

2 indulge or satisfy (a desire).

Yes - if they can do this to animals - they can do it to people. The kids today have been brought up on a diet of violent video games and lack of parental supervision. Many of them have no conscience when it comes to torturing a living creature and can't distinguish between reality and a video clip.

As adults we're not doing too much to promote humanity when live footage of cattle being tortured in slaughter yards is shown on our television sets and our political parties are too gutless to do anything about it.

The penalties for cruelty to animals aren't harsh enough. Most of these rabid ferals (if they're caught) don't even get a slap on the wrist and are free to walk away and do the same thing over and over again.

It is hard to imagine what might trigger - or motivate - a group of people to commit such heinous acts of cruelty against those innocent animals...

It is plausible that this was just a random act of alcohol-fuelled opportunistic sadism - but it could just as easily be motivated by a conflict with the owner/manager of these poor animals...

Unfortunately, my gut-feeling is that this cannot be put down to 'kids' - older youths maybe but it seems more likely that one or more twisted young men was/were the ringleader/s...

Either way, one would hope that all of the perpetrators are promptly hunted down and dealt with - including some serious psychoanalysis and rehabilitation (especially since it is unlikely that they would be incarcerated for life)!
