Flying shoes aimed at former PM John Howard sold

Flying shoes aimed at former PM John Howard sold for more than $3000

A PAIR of shoes thrown at former Prime Minister John Howard have fetched more than $3000 at auction.
The shoes - that sold for $3,650 on online auction site eBay - were thrown at Mr Howard during a live episode of ABC’s Q&A in October last year, reported the Herald Sun.

Peter Gray pelted his well-worn, size-10 runners at Mr Howard after the former Liberal Party leader answered a question on Australia's involvement in the Iraq war.

Mr Gray shouted ''That is for the Iraqi dead'' as he threw the shoes, both of which missed Mr Howard.

He said after the footage was aired he was flooded with calls from mates who told him he couldn't throw.

Prime Minister Julia Gillard condemned the attack as disrespectful at the time.

Mr Gray died earlier this year after battling cancer and requested the shoes be auctioned to raise money for charity.

All money raised will be donated to the Red Cross.

At least the money has gone to charity, but $3k for something which many have forgotten about, talk about too much money.
