Could well be a slipping of standards we see.

Could be people are too sophisticated these days to allow such absurdities.

The best way to improve these boards- and ourselves, one would think, would be to NOT talk about politics... Lips Sealed

overall Longy mostly things are really good. Politicians suck is the wildest board but considering by its nature it is encouraging partisan attitudes things are not so bad. The spamming is the real issue, Matty does not need to start a thousand Oakshot threads particularly when they don't even live in the electorate.
What you propose is censorship, so i cannot agree, i would love to shut some posters up but i am not quick enough nor do i write well enough to do that. I also don't have the time to do the hours of research to shove down someones throat when they are quoting idiots like Jones and Haddley as some kind of authority.
Maybe you want to ban newspaper links on the politics sucks thread as they are meaningless. Poll results, statistical information and quote from reports only, but who cares what bolt thinks really.

Your post is a bit amusing because you seem to think that a well-reasoned argument will get rid of spammers and abusers! how quaint!!

it doesnt work for exactly the same reason cops have guns. not everyone will obey the rules or be coerced to behave by words. Soem have to be threatened and others forcibly removed. Thats what I will do. What I propose is not censorship unless you belive in uncontrolled, unmoderated insanity. the automatic swear word filter is 'censorship'. banning people for vile abuse and defamation is also censorship.

we ALL believe in censorship. we just disagree on whhere the line is drawn.

If you want a debate on what is censorship then start one. just dont start with the lame notion that controlling and limiting the words people are allowed to use in a public forum is censorship. you will need a more articulate argument than that.
