Schools change national anthem

Schools change national anthem

Some private Christian schools are singing an alternative version of the national anthem which promotes religious values and talks of Christ.

Instead of the official second verse of Advance Australia Fair, which starts "Beneath our radiant Southern Cross", the alternative verse says "With Christ our head and cornerstone, we'll build our nation's might".

The version of the anthem is sung every fortnight at Thornlie Christian College and Christian Schools Australia WA executive officer Ray Dallin confirmed that it was regularly sung at other school assemblies and churches.

He believed the verse was in the original anthem by Peter Dodds McCormick but had been omitted from the official version.

"It's probably normal for the Christian schools to do that because it's the Christian element of that song which is often left out," he said.

But others say the existence of a missing Christian verse is a myth started by Awakening, a Christian movement, and it was never part of the composer's original work.

Original verses from 1879 in the National Library of Australia music collection do not include the Christian verse.

A spokeswoman from the office of Prime Minister Julia Gillard said that under national protocols, the anthem should not be modified and alternative words should not be used. The two authorised verses were proclaimed in 1984.

Thornlie Christian College principal Bill Innes said the extra verse had been in use at the school since he started there nine years ago.

"If it was offensive to our community I would certainly look at taking it away," he said.

"We are about honouring our country and that is why we make a point of singing the anthem at every assembly."

Mr Innes said he had assumed it was an official verse.

Muslims not only kill and maim while shouting Allahu Akhbar every day around the world but their enablers and supporters and excusers now pretend that this is equivalent to a suburban Christian school mentioning ...er... Christ when singing an extra couple of lines in the anthem every fortnight. What are they singing? "With Christ our head and cornerstone, we'll build our nation's might.

This is extremeism exposed only to Muslim minds that live in a perpetual intellectual unreality and wilful derangement.

To a moslem, 'extremism', is the act of choosing to be something other than, a moslem.

And moslems promote such a view.

And at every opportunity they have, moslems will communicate, that human 'extremism', is not being a moslem and not embracing a moslem worldview.

Even the Koran confirms this 'normal' moslem worldview, that, 'extremism' is choosing to be something other than, a moslem.....

And that moslems need to fight the 'extremists'...

"....Lo! Allah is an enemy to those who reject Faith."
Koran 2.98
COMMENT; Promoting to moslems that 'unbelief' in Allah, is a crime.

"Fight those who believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book, until they pay the Jizya with willing submission, and feel themselves subdued. "
Koran 9.29
COMMENT; The Koran is exhorting moslems to violence against non-moslems.
i.e. FOR THEIR UNBELIEF.
Because, 'unbelief' in Allah, is a crime.

Can't you dropkicks leave Islam out of a single topic for a moment?

Why deflect? Why always try to work your way back around to "Islam does everything bad, the big bad evil Muslims are to blame"?

Why can't you for once have a shred of intellectual integrity and actually address the topic at hand?

I think we all know why...

"Schools change national anthem" - about adding a few lines about Christ in a Christian school to boost patriotic feelings.

Please explain why this strikes a Muslim galah as an example of 'extremism' and what does he think is being 'exposed' and what responses does he hope for?

It exposes the hypocrisy of those who would complain if anybody else was teaching children a deviated national anthem.

If someone was teaciing pro-communism verses in the anthem in an Australian school there would be outrage. Can imagine all the hypocrites screaming about the desecration of the Australian anthem.

Hypocrites are quiet in this case.

You just said it - because minorities are just that, minorities. Foreign to the established culture.

It's not for uppity Mohammedans to sneer or pretend that they have the same cultural claims in Australia.
In Mecca you can wring your hands as much as you like when they change the anthem to add in a few more blood curdling cries about spreading islam at the point of the sword, but in AUstralia and the West, you are tolerated froreigners.
Behave accordingly.

Kind of like Jews in nazi Germany? Pol Pot knew how to deal with minorities also, is he your hero?
