OOO, Someone has too much money. So does anyone remember what Halloween is about and why it is so not at this time of year in the southern hemisphere.

The romans, what have the romans ever done for us?

I don't mind what halloween is ment to be. I celebrate it each year with a couple of old friends on the 30th of April as it is in the southern hemisphere. It is the death of the year, when harvest is done, all the jobs finished and nothing grows anymore. A time to reflect on what has been in the year past and a time to remember those close that were lost to us. It is the time for the spirits of the dead to pass on to the next world. Funny how somehow the yanks made it a comercial success.

It wasn't the Romans who gave the world halloween.  It was the ancient Celts of Scotland and Ireland.  Halloween is derived from  Samhain, a Gaelic harvest festival held on October 31–November 1.

The roman thing is a joke, monty python.

Yes you are right and so in the southern hemisphere it falls on the 30th April, being the harvest festival here, You may have noticed that October is spring not Autumn.
