How do you come up with that excuse?

Either she wasn't interested in bringing in a Carbon Tax, as she stated, or she WAS, which is what actually happened.
Labor were always going to introduce a price on carbon - A fixed price is a prise on carbon. A tax was also Tony Abbotts prefered position if he were going to price carbon.
Clearly her intention was to go directly to a trading scheme - the effective difference to anybody is zero.

She may not have won the election if she had not fallen in with their wishes, but she could have retained some honour in her word.
Had she never made the commitment she possibly would have won the election outright - the silly promise only cost her votes.
