What will the cards say for Mick and Craig ?

POLICE now have crucial American Express records of Craig Thomson and Michael Williamson and will interview the architect of Mr Williamson's home renovations to establish whether union funds paid for them.

NSW Police also plan to interview besieged federal MP Mr Thomson and suspended Health Services Union boss Mr Williamson early next year before deciding whether to lay fraud charges against them, sources confirmed.

Both men deny any wrongdoing.

Victorian HSU sources said they had also been spoken to by police about claims of fraud against whistleblower national secretary Kathy Jackson and her ex-husband Jeff dating back more than a decade.

"I have no idea what you're talking about. I have not heard that," Ms Jackson said yesterday.

Union infighting continued yesterday after Ms Jackson lost a no-confidence motion at the national conference by 1190 votes to 565.

IF MICHAEL Williamson at the HSU thinks his no-confidence motion against Kathy Jackson has intimidated her, he is dead-set wrong.

It was alleged at the conference that Mr Williamson told Jackson ally and HSU East deputy general secretary Marco Bolano: "Enjoy the rest of your time in the union movement. I'm going to f ... ing destroy you."

Sources said any charges against Mr Williamson and Mr Thomson were unlikely to be first referred to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

If Mr Thomson, the member for Dobell, was convicted of an offence carrying a maximum one-year jail term, he would have to resign from parliament - which could bring down the minority Labor government.

Police sources said the investigation was well advanced but was dealing with all allegations in totality, including claims concerning Mr Williamson's computing firm United Edge winning contracts with his union.

They have obtained several credit card records, including cards the pair allegedly received as "secret commissions" from the union's printing firm Communigraphix - which they deny.

Mr Thomson also faces a Victorian police investigation on the use of his union credit card on escort agencies..

IF MICHAEL Williamson and his backers at the scandal-ridden Health Services Union think their no-confidence motion against Kathy Jackson has intimidated her, they're dead-set wrong.

"Did they think that I would start crying and resign and go home?" the defiant national secretary said.

"I'm going nowhere."

Jackson went to police in September alleging misuse of members' funds by former national secretary, now Labor MP Craig Thomson, and his former boss Williamson.

This week she endured a hostile reception at the HSU annual conference at Darling Harbour. When she walked into the Convention Centre, Williamson's supporters abused her as a "Judas" .

"They said: How dare you do this to Michael? The Labor government is in crisis. It's all my fault," Jackson said.

Delegates loyal to Williamson voted for a motion of no confidence against her, 1190 to 565. The NSW branch affiliated with Williamson also voted to split from Jackson's Victorian branches, with which it had merged in May.

"I just want to make sure members' interests are taken care of," Jackson said.

"I am sick to death that they think they can do what they like and use members' money for their own pockets (instead of) looking after the interests of working men and women."

The mother of three is used to intimidation. She found a shovel full of dirt at her door after she first went to police (neither Thomson nor Williamson are suspected of having sent it).

"It's all about silencing the whistleblower," she said.

"They want to take me out of the picture so it's business as usual - and they can continue as they have for at least a decade."

She was recently hospitalised after having a nervous breakdown but she is back, and more determined than ever to fight for low-paid hospital workers.

"I'm getting hundreds of letters and emails of support from the membership saying they are absolutely appalled by what's gone on. I believe I've got their full support to clean up this union," she said.

Williamson and Thomson, whose seat of Dobell on the NSW Central Coast is crucial to keeping the Gillard government in power, have denied allegations they spent union funds on prostitutes, long lunches, Labor Party expenses and personal items. The police inquiry continues.

What a courageous woman you are Kathy. Good to see a union official putting the members (remember them?) first, more power to you.

well well well dont expect a response from the left julair... they dont like this one.. its all ABBOTTS fault.. that THOMO is in this spot...

I started a thread on this one yesterday and brought up about the treatment of the whistleblower Ms Jackson not one comment..

how ever they did accuse the police of leaking like a sieve and therefore should be sacked.. almost..

they do like to get their priorities in the right order dont they?.

I am so glad you too are interested in this slime bag THOMO to see him fawning over Obama today  made me sick.. she should have put him out side..where he belongs.the stink from this one will go right through labor and its cohorts the unions..all tainted and tarnished and past their use by dates.

I am appalled at the treatment Ms Jackson is getting from the shovel downwards it smacks of terrorism.. the mere fact this govt says nothing is again showing what cowardice really is.

shewill probably give them all a standing ovation at their little get together in Melb..
