Poverty isn't just caused by lack of education or motivation.

Nobody said it was. Then again, nobody was talking about poverty in general were they?

Nonetheless, generational welfare is a reality that is born of a limited education and a sense of helplessness which the governments since the time of Whitlam have allowed.... indeed, it could be said, they have forced onto unsuspecting families and young people.

the only difference it makes is that its harder to get even a crap low skilled job without a high school degree when you get older. finishing year 12 other than that gives you no advantages at all if you dont intend to go to university (and theres a billion non-high school pathways to get into any uni you want anyway).

bachelors degrees will be the next high school certificates, jsut you watch. year 12 if it hasnt already will be upgraded to equivalent of year 10 as universities try to herd more retards in their gates.

Most single parents on welfare are entitled to a 100% rebate, or near to that, for child care. That means they do not pay, or pay very little child care up front.

Places for child care should not be a problem within the TAFE system that has, in most cases, Child Care on site. The Policy would have to make additional spaces available to cater for the increased demand.

The real problem then is... where are these additional child care spaces to come from? Child Care as a career is woefully paid and results in revolving door employment (high youth employment which is often short term) which is not good for societies children.

For this Policy to really work, Child Carers need to be paid more for the role they play in raising the next generation of citizens.
