Does anyone come to mind?
Roosevelt never had to deal with problems of the magnitude facing us, that's the ugly truth. If there was a way it would've been dealt with between the GFC and now. What is called for is a new system and not a messiah. That's part of the old system.
I am not interested in doing deals with share market capitalism, or those who support that economy - I am all for a new system and for skilling up Aussies again in trade skills and letting them do what they do best. Shareholder capitalists are not of much use and will be suited for only the most menial of tasks since their house of cards is doomed, if you can get them to work.
The important thing is Australians need proper trade skills and qualifications pathways readily available and we need to get that happening - if a depression happens organised corporate greed and human inequality has left us totally screwed.
Dead right, and probably one of the most sensible things I've seen you post for some time.
This country will go no-where but further down-hill if this is not done, preferably immediately.
It should be compulsory for companies to take on untrained staff and TRAIN them.
It should ALSO be compulsory for the Govt to make RELEVANT training available to ALL
those on welfare who wish to undertake it, INCLUDING those on WfD.
This is currently NOT happening, to Australia's detriment and SHAME.
And it WON'T happen as long as politicians and business leaders are addicted to greed and the 'quick-fix'.
