Does anyone come to mind?

Roosevelt never had to deal with problems of the magnitude facing us, that's the ugly truth. If there was a way it would've been dealt with between the GFC and now. What is called for is a new system and not a messiah. That's part of the old system.

I am not interested in doing deals with share market capitalism, or those who support that economy - I am all for a new system and for skilling up Aussies again in trade skills and letting them do what they do best.  Shareholder capitalists are not of much use and will be suited for only the most menial of tasks since their house of cards is doomed, if you can get them to work.  The important thing is Australians need proper trade skills and qualifications pathways readily available and we need to get that happening - if a depression happens organised corporate greed and human inequality has left us totally screwed.

Dead right, and probably one of the most sensible things I've seen you post for some time.

This country will go no-where but further down-hill if this is not done, preferably immediately.

It should be compulsory for companies to take on untrained staff and TRAIN them.

It should ALSO be compulsory for the Govt to make RELEVANT training available to ALL
those on welfare who wish to undertake it, INCLUDING those on WfD.

This is currently NOT happening, to Australia's detriment and SHAME.

And it WON'T happen as long as politicians and business leaders are addicted to greed and the 'quick-fix'.

The ideas I have for skilling up Australia again and rebuilding do not include working with shareholder capitalism.  when their economy goes belly up and they have ruined all of the privatized businesses that my class built and made into the enterprises they were - they are history.  That relationship is broken, unworkable and unsustainable.

Hey corporate, you may not realise this but i'm a mining tycoon.  Grin Actually we don't like the way things are going either and between you and me, there's a few of us like the cut of your jib. We think you have some good ideas and are prepared to back them with a couple of million.

My point is CW, that we are all corruptible. You can be corrupted without even realising it. If you were rich, you'd sing a different tune. You'd mix with different people and get a different sense of how too be a really useful guy.

There is no 'enemy', there are just patterns of behaviour. Classism isn't any different from racism. They're just red herrings set up by control freaks. People like our Andrei are just as much a victim of the 'system' (pattern) as poor people. It's just as easy to set up an unjust system that overpays tradesmen and underpays stockbrokers as the other way around. (Actually between you and me I think you have to have more intelligence to be a carpenter than a finance sector 'trader')

I think you need to understand this, before you can effect REAL change.

Step 1 - Train everyone and provide them with the skills needed for a socialist utopia.

Step 2 - Destroy ALL privately own businesses and corporations.

Step 3 - ?

This has been done before and very successfully in places like USSR, china, north korea and pol pot's cambodia.

You're about 100 years too late to set up a socialist distopia, people just aren't that stupid anymore.  Grin

Disagree in the strongest possible terms.  With the rise of mass bubblegum media and google, people are stupider than ever.  Not me though, I'm speshul.

Speaking of Roosevelt, he wasn't everyone's favourite. He made the people sell their gold for $20 an ounce and immediately readjusted the price of gold to $35 an ounce to keep up with inflation.

Wow you lie and regurgitate nonsense so effortlessly to yourself and to uas.  All you are telling me is that the people who stole the enterprises that my class and my forefathers built with their skill - that organised share-market capitalism (the mafia) can steal for themselves.  That you can screw the rest of the country by not training Australians but by importing skills to run the businesses for you while you carve up the lot for yourselves.  Why do you try to complicate simple organised crime with flowery nonsense? You are so entitled that you believe that not only should you not have to p[ay for skills but that all of the tax revenue is for bailing out the share market capitalist class and their gravy train existence.  And you dont actually need any skills your self or to pay for the training - you just need to keep on importing them like the useless corrupt parasites you are so that they can do all of the work for you till they too have had enough of you.  But you know what, your house of cards is collapsing and we are not bailing you out.  you useless bludgers can rot in hell.  Because when it all collapses, when you cant pay anyone any more you're screwed.  We can re-learn the skills that built this country, but you will always remain useless narcissistic criminal parasites.  thats the truth, your version is your imagination.

I think that TPTB will find it in themselves to go for a couple of big bailouts and another round of money printing before the deck of cards collapses.

They have to make sure they did a very, very good job before they throw the towel in.

Who knows how high our deficit will go before they concede defeat?

$1 trillion.....maybe

I think corporate whitey is more speshul than you, he regurgitates the same marxist drivel over and over without taking time to reflect if it is in fact relevant to the post he is making.  Grin
