My question after reading this article is: "Does anyone oppose a flogging for scum like this?"

Rapist fears torture if deported to UK

December 14, 2011

Lawyers for Leslie Cunliffe, dubbed the Silence of the Lambs rapist, argued it would be cruel to deport him and expose him to torture.

Cunliffe, 63, made a last-ditch attempt in the Federal Court to remain in Australia and is fighting the Federal Government's decision to boot him back to Britain, and he wants taxpayers to foot his legal bill...

...Cunliffe, who in 1999 posed as a policeman, kidnapped a university student at gunpoint in Geelong and then subjected her to seven hours of terror.

He took her to a dungeon, that resembled a scene from the horror film, strapped her to a chair bolted to the floor, and gagged and raped her...

...In the victim impact statement tendered to the court during Cunliffe's plea hearing the young woman said: "The rape made me lose all hope of survival. I gave up all hope of living. I even tried to will myself to die."...

I was writing about blasphemy not rape.
Rapists should be hanged in a public square as a warning to others.
Next question?

The person sentenced to flogging in Saudi Arabia did not actually commit blasphemy per se. But rather for insulting people.

If you insult a member of the royal family in Thaliand you can be jailed for 10 years.

In Denmark up to 6 months jail for insulting royalty.

In Greece, you can go to jail for insulting the president or Christianity.

In England, until fairly recently they would diembowel people and set fire to their intestines.

In Australia, you can cop a beating for doing a burnout:

Brutality claims fuelled by graphic video footage

...An officer repeatedly kicks one of the men and then beats him about the head with his baton. In the background an officer can be seen punching the other man in the face and head as he cowers behind his car. A third officer looks on...

...Several minutes earlier, the two victims, David Bray and Ryan "Spud" Boyd, had been caught doing burnouts outside the Mansfield police station.

Although neither went to hospital, Mr Bray said he had bruises in "tiger stripes" and Mr Boyd said he woke up the next day with his head stuck to the pillow where the blood on his scalp had congealed, and had such a swollen face that he ate canned spaghetti for days.

False - he cursed the name of 2 people who were friends of the prophet.

Why not 10,000 lashes?

Anybody have any problems with this lashing?

2,080 lashes for Saudi man who raped daughter

December 12, 2011

RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (AP) — An official Saudi newspaper says a man convicted of raping his daughter has been sentenced to receive 2,080 lashes over the course of a 13-year prison term.

The court in the holy city of Mecca found the man guilty of raping his teenage daughter for seven years while under the influence of drugs.

The Okaz newspaper reported Saturday that the man will receive the lashes in stages throughout his prison sentence. The man's name was not published.

Saudi religious police say the girl's uncle tipped them off to the crime.

Lashing is one of the penalties available to the clerics who serve as judges in Saudi Arabia and issue rulings according to the kingdom's strict interpretation of Islamic law.

Well if he's committed such a crime, then who cares what he considers to be better off?

He should suffer as his victim suffered. She didn't get instant release from his torture and crimes.

I say that's too good for someone if they did this to their own daughter.

I say let 'em suffer miserably for it.

Abu,
don't be so vindictive that death is not enough for you.

Let your merciful Allah condemn them to burn forever in hellfire & damnation -
isn't that enough?
How much suffering is enough for you?

Is this meant to be some kind of moral equivalent to the punishment handed out by a court of law?

Unlike Christianity, burnings have never been allowed in Islam.

Falah, what do you think of the punishments that are allowed under Islam?

Perhaps you should ask the victim how much suffering is enough.
