Cucumbers are haraam

Quote:
Muslim cleric reportedly warns cucumbers too sexy for women to handle

AN Islamic cleric living in Europe reportedly has warned Muslim women not to get too close to bananas, cucumbers or other produce to avoid having "sexual thoughts."

The unnamed cleric, whose directive was featured in an article in el Senousa, a religious publication, purportedly said that if women wanted to eat these foods, a third party -- preferably a male related to them, such as their father or husband -- should cut the items into small pieces before serving, the Egyptian website Bikya Masr reported.

Some foods are haraam according to the alleged religion of islam. Broomsticks, 12 inch rules, pogo sticks and a host of other things are very suggestive according to muslims.

New Age Muslims like myself and my wife mohammad are a little bit more educated than mainstream muslims. However I have noticed that my wife always buys 15 inch cucumbers and her eyes water when she does.

"an unnamed cleric " said it then it must be true?

Islamophobic Western media will jump on board any story that defames Islam without verifying the truth.

Thanks for highlighting the hypocrisy of the Western media.

Falah already has his cucumbers and bananas cut up for him.
This is old news.

They did name the 'religious publication' that published it. That's like claiming that the watchtower is not representative of the JW's and merely making everything up unless they list the author on every article.

No, they didn't.

They have sinced published an editorial apology for their shoddy reporting though:

Quote:
Looking back, it was my own editorial oversight that failed in allowing this story to be published. Editorially, it was my duty to not publish this story before we could gather independent verification about the details behind the original Arabic article from Assawsana.com, the article that we referenced in writing our piece. Furthermore, I originally and mistakenly quoted Assawsana.com as “El-Senousa.com,” only furthering the confusion and mistakes involved in this report.

As Editor of Bikyamasr.com, I am disappointed that I did not catch and hold this piece. The “Islamic cleric bans women from touching cucumbers, bananas for sexual resemblance,” article should not have run when it did. Arguably, it should not have been run at all. We should not have published about an “unnamed sheikh” in an unnamed European country unless we were able to garner more information on the issue, both on the sheikh himself and the news website the information was gathered from, independently.

We realize that as a growing news organization with a growing reputation and readership, we have an increased responsibility to not only verify our own material at the highest levels, but further investigate the quotes and articles of other news organizations before referencing their work.

I see. So it was on Assawsana.com rather than El-Senousa.com. Does that change anything? Is Assawsana like The Onion?

The editor wasn't just apologising for getting the original publication's name wrong, which you'd know if you read the link.

There's so many cucumbers to choose from.

...

People used to a little Lebanese may find a continental a little confronting.

...

Of course those who go for quality over size will always choose the Lebanese. There's not much point plumping for a tasteless thin long one that goes limp and rotten before you use it.

Perhaps you should have quoted the bit where he rejects the relevant facts then (if indeed it exists). To me it sounds like he is withdrawing the sentiment only.

Why? I'm not claiming that the guy didn't say it. He probably did.

You said they named the publication, I said they didn't and proved it. And that the Egyptian site responsible  apologised for their shoddy reporting in not checking their own facts before they published their own version of the story.

Anyway, my husband read the original article and reckons the guy is saying that eating pieces of fruit like bananas in a suggestive way in public is haram. Falah can probably read Arabic, so he can back that up.

So we are in agreement? Tell me again why I need to follow the link?

You proved they did not name the publication by quoting the bit where they named the publication?

I see. No absurdities there then.
