I'm sure he'll sell a few books.

If it is like his last book it will be full of errors and have very little to do with the truth.....However I am against pushing any ideology onto children including those of the left!!!

Angry

How would you educate them?

Without using unproven unreliable text that promotes an opinion not facts!!!

So would you advocate not discussing AGW at all?

If a student is in a science class and the cariculum includes AGW studies I would hope all sides of the argument where taught.....Using approved material that has been proven to be factual and tell the truth....Somehow I doubt Pilmers book meets that criteria!!!

Angry

That was my point.  He presents an alternative view; which happens to be in stark contrast to the balance of opinion.

Here is one for the teachers to teach themselves before brainwashing our kids.

Statisticians can prove almost anything, a new study finds

But even as readers smirk over the latest gee whizzery about human nature, it is generally assumed that behind the headlines, in the peer-reviewed pages of academia, most scientists are engaged in sober analysis of rigorously gathered data, and that this leads them reliably to the truth.

Not so, says a new report in the journal Psychological Science, which claims to show “how unacceptably easy it is to accumulate (and report) statistically significant evidence for a false hypothesis.”

In “many cases, a researcher is more likely to falsely find evidence that an effect exists than to correctly find evidence that it does not,” they write.

Not at all, but if you are going to present an accepted theory as fact you should at least present the contrarian view to let them make up their own mind.  Not much into brainwashing.

I guess you flicked through my post then and don't know peer-reviewing very well.

I have an example on another thread that I will bring across but will give you time to look up some bogus peer-reviews or refuted peer-reviews, withdrawn or how about peer-reviewed papers than demolish previous peer-reviewed papers ect.

Curriculum Council is department of Education WA? We would have a similar animal here I'm sure, but never had much to do with the public system; private schools have significantly more discretion in the application of the guidelines as I understand it.

I'm not sure really where I stand on the teacher imparting their own flavour on things.

I see no ones managed to find 1 of the questions yet.
Truthfully I have no issue with a problem being looked at from all sides in the classroom.
It was only ever a political thing for Howard, enough votes to be dragged kicking a screaming to do something but only enough to fool those votes into thinking something was being done Wink

It is the study that is trying to prove something, not me.

Which is why only peer reviewed science is accepted and not opinions???

I guess you flicked through my thread then and don't know peer-reviewing very well.

I have an example on another thread that I will bring across but will give you time to look up some bogus peer-reviews or refuted peer-reviews, withdrawn or how about peer-reviewed papers than demolish previous peer-reviewed papers ect.

WTF are you on about....If peer reviewed science is disproven then it is no longer accepted....That is how science evolves and only deals with the truth.....Science is never settled and is always seeking to find the truth....I fail to see what you are trying to prove accept that peer reviewed science is the only thing we should believe!!!

It is the study that is trying to prove something, not me.

Peer-reviewing only has its proper place when it hasn't been corrupted.

If it is corrupted then it will be disproven in time....Not presenting your findings for peer review would not be acceptable!!!
