I am against using children to promote anyone's theories or beliefs regardless of wich side of politics they are from.....If Pilmer cannot convince the scientific community with peer reviewed scientific research then he is a fraud!!!

I'm sure he'll sell a few books.

If it is like his last book it will be full of errors and have very little to do with the truth.....However I am against pushing any ideology onto children including those of the left!!!

Without using unproven unreliable text that promotes an opinion not facts!!!

So would you advocate not discussing AGW at all?

If a student is in a science class and the cariculum includes AGW studies I would hope all sides of the argument where taught.....Using approved material that has been proven to be factual and tell the truth....Somehow I doubt Pilmers book meets that criteria!!!

That was my point. He presents an alternative view; which happens to be in stark contrast to the balance of opinion.

So you would have no problem with teachers pushing their own agenda in the classroom that has not been approved by the carriculum council???

Much that is taught in school can't be proven without assumption; I have a very healthy contempt for the "education" system.

Well good for you....So you think teachers should be able to teach what ever they want then???

Not at all, but if you are going to present an accepted theory as fact you should at least present the contrarian view to let them make up their own mind. Not much into brainwashing.

I agree....but the alternative view must be based on fact and be cleared by the carriculum council.....We cannot have teachers pushing their personal views onto children???

Curriculum Council is department of Education WA? We would have a similar animal here I'm sure, but never had much to do with the public system; private schools have significantly more discretion in the application of the guidelines as I understand it.

I'm not sure really where I stand on the teacher imparting their own flavour on things.

If I found out a teacher was pushing their own agenda onto my kids that was not in the carriculum I would be very angry.....How would you like it if a teacher started pushing something like gay rights or anti religious propaganda to your kids.....The problem is when you open the door to allowing personal views in teaching you cannot control what your children are being fed....If it is not approved it is not acceptable period!!!
