Just watched "Good Will Hunting" starring Robin William, Matt Damon, Minnie Driver and Ben Afleck.
Enjoyed it immensly and gives hope to all janitors like myself that we may make something of ourselves.

It's a few year's old - and I've had the DVD for almost as LONG - but a laid-back Sunday arvo was a perfect opportunity to pop on ...

...

An absolute
MUST SEE
( ... if you haven't done so, already)

BRILLIANT work, all round - by the two young leads, in particular

Summed up well, HERE ...

Quote:
Perfectly weighted film..., 13 September 2008
tomashaffenden-1 from London

I'm a man's man, and it takes something really exceptional to break my emotionless machine persona. This film ripped me apart and reminded me (and my partner) of humanity inside even the most hardened man.

Perfectly weighted film in every way, from pace to acting and all framed with a wonderful score. The subtlety of the looks passing between the actors and a finale that ensured silence until the final credit rolled, makes this one of the best films i've seen in a long time.

This is the first review I have never written and i cannot think of a better way to have opened my account.

I think you're being a bit harsh on yourself.

Janitors play a vital role in society.

Annie, go see 'The Marigold movie' great script, great acting from, Judy Dench, Maggie Smith and your favourite Bill Nighy.  Also in it was Dev Patel from Slumdog Millionares, great acting from him as well.

What a delightful movie full of life and colour about a bunch old fogies going to India to live 'in retirement' at the Marigold Hotel.

It was a cut above  most of the movies I have seen this year and I have seen most of them.

It was anything but depressing, funny, ironic, wise, it ran the whole gammut of human emotions.

Uncle Meat...hey bro...Don't you think Adam peaked with The Water Boy? Has been a while since he put out anything like the early ones. Still.....there's always hope isn't there?

I'm more of a Bill Murray fan, even though he's getting up there, he was great in Zombie Land in his cameo.

Tell you a little life story, in the 80's I completed an external diploma in script writing with the Australian Film Radio and Television School.

I had written a mini series called 'The Old Boys' It was based a lot on my early years experiences at Annandale, which was a tough town in thopse days, we lived next door to an S.P. Bookmaker who used to bounce his wife off the walls if he had a bad day. The rest came from what I learned in the Cops.

It was about 3 mates, one went on to be a big business success, the second a cricketer who played for Australia  and the third a criminal.

Channel 7 optioned my work and even sent a script editor to work on it.

I picked up about 15K for the option. Channel 7's Louise Home took me out to Moroney's, one of the best restaurants in Sydney at the time.

I thought my time had come but Channel7 and the other stations changed direction and The Old Boys was not made. Stiff cheddar for me. I tried to climb the Mountain again and in fact wrote another mini series called, The Eastern Suburbs Barbecue Club. It was rejected by a major player (Can't say because of libel laws) but in any case, out came a mini series a couple of years later based around the Roger Rogerson and the Neddy Arthur Smiths of the day. Strangely...very much like my script...funny about that huh? By the same company I had submitted it to as well.

Tell you one thing, there are more thieves in TV land that I ever met in the cops!

Just a slice of life care of yours truly.

Adam Sandler is not funny at all in anything ever.

I loved Zombieland though - Woody Harrelson is great.

Loved Bill Murray ever since Caddy Shack.

Agreed.
Another "funny man" who is about as funny as cancer - Will Ferrell.
