I would agree with you about Will Ferrell were it not for Blades of Glory.

Should be seeing The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel later this week.

Going to see it this evening at Parramatta - in 1½ hours time…

I loved it.  Beautifully acted and wonderful colours.  It had a lot more to say about relationships between people than I was expecting, which is not to say that it didn't have a good story, because it did, but after the movie was finished, more than anything else, I found myself thinking about the characters, the situations they found themselves in, and how would I have reacted if it were me.  Another thing I liked about it was that it wasn't predictable - you didn't know what was going to happen to the characters, and you didn't know how it was all going to end up.  With most movies you canguess how they're going to finish, you just don't know exactly how they're going to get there.

It may not be a movie that would appeal to a lot of people under 30 though I suspect - and I would hazard a guess that the average age of the audience last night would have been around the 50 mark.....

Sure God created man before woman. But then you always make a rough draft before the final masterpiece.

"IT'S official. Ron Burgundy is back.
The actor who played him in the 2004 hit, Will Ferrell, reportedly announced the sequel to the audience of the Conan O'Brien show earlier this morning."

I just watched a movie called 'Four Lions'. It is about a group of Islamic terrorists plotting to blow up the London marathon. Very funny stuff.

Islamic terrorism is nothing to laugh at.

Another film I enjoyed is the Norwegian horror "Død snø" ("Dead Snow").

The film is in Norwegian with English subtitles.

A group of seven students on Easter vacation (so now is a perfect time to watch it) arrives at a small cabin in the snowy mountains near Øksfjord.

The group begins to drink and party until a mysterious hiker (Bjørn Sundquist) arrives. He tells them the dark history of the region; during World War II, a force of Einsatzgruppe, led by Standartenführer Herzog (Ørjan Gamst), occupied the area. For three years the Nazis abused and tortured the local people. Near the end of the war, with Germany's defeat looming, the soldiers looted all the town's valuables. However, the citizens stage an uprising and ambushed the Nazis, killing many. The survivors, including Herzog, were chased into the mountains, and it was assumed that they all froze to death. The hiker then continues on his way.

Needless to say the group soon become the bloody victims of a gang of zombie Nazis......

I suppose I will rock the boat with this but HUNGER GAMES left me hungry for a decent movie. After the hyperbole I went to see it but was very let down.

I thought Hunger Games was a 'linear' movie which travelled along a well worn road. You could predict the end after twenty minutes in.

I went looking for something special but all I found was a teenage slice and dice movie.

It had nothing to say.

AS William Goldman the screenwriter who wrote such classic as Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and The Princess Bride said, "in a movie you have one thing that you don't have on television - time. The fans have paid their money and they will sit patiently for the first twenty minutes whilst you set up your characters and your plot."

The Hunger Games had time but by the end of the movie we didn't have a clue about the cataclysmic revolution what caused  it, who was involved and what was their world was like before it.

This movie was flat and boring and I rate it 4 out of 10.

I saw Four Lions last night.  It was hilarious.  British comedy at its best.  I think it was just poking fun at Islamists and how thick and hapless they can be.

The best bit is where one of the would-be Islamists accidentally blows himself up in a field full of sheep, taking a sheep with him, and one of his "brothers", when he discovers that the guy's remains and the sheep's remains were intermingled and so were scooped up together into the same bag, called the victim a jalfrezi.

I don't know if anybody here has ever seen the British comedy series Fonejacker about a guy who makes hilarious prank phonecalls to unsuspecting people and the sequel to that series, Facejacker, in which a man in various disguises plays pranks on people, but the star of those shows, Kayvan Novak, plays one of the Islamists in the film Four Lions.

I liked that one too.

Just saw "The Road". Great film. A grim, post apocalyptic type movie, but it has a unique style that they pulled off very well.
