[quote author=584E57575F5A4D3B0 link=1325717274/6#6 date=1325722705]Australia desperately needs a Ron Paul to vote for. The current batch of politicians on both sides, would have be the biggest pathetic bunch of losers this Nation has ever had the misfortune to produce.

If we the people don’t quickly start demanding more referendums on important issues and start taking back power that politicians underhandedly gave themselves, then we, your children and grandchildren are going to be in very big trouble.

Why the hell should we the tax payers be paying the salaries of the “opposition politicians” in Federal and State Governments & all their staff to do nothing more than sit around in Parliament and ask the Government in power bloody questions.

Besides asking questions and pointing out Government failures, what else is the opposition politicians getting $150K salaries to do?  They have NO effective power in either the upper or lower house, so what are they doing for their $150k salaries besides asking the same boring questions and pointing out the same boring Government failures?[/
quote]

you deserve the dangerous outcome of your idea. no opposition means no accountability which effectively means no democracy.

I think the media "break" more stories and hold the serving Government to more accountable than any opposition I'm aware of past or present.

Maybe you could give just a few examples of how both opposition Education, Defense, Communications Liberal & Labor ministers just to name a few; have directly made each other accountable when they have been in opposition - that's been a media worthy besides the NBN?

Education. do you even remember the BER?
Communications. NBN anyone?
Defense. materiel appropriations?

your opiinions seem to be based purely on the litle bit of information that comes your way. no wonder you are so wrong, so often.

Education. do you even remember the BER?
Nothing to do with education per se, it was a building stimulis to help defend against job losses during the GFC.
Which as anyone in the industry it was VERY successful at.
Without the "Aus" looking for any real or percieved mistake the Opp would have had nothing, they read the paper in the morning and wrote their questions from the articles

Communications. NBN anyone?
I like to think when we were building the copper network which I'm sure cost more than initial predictions we had those that bagged it as unwarrented excess and the "Pony Express"could do the job just as well

Defense. materiel appropriations?
PLEASE ARE YOU SERIOUS??????????????????
Sea Sprite helicopters
Abrahams Tanks
Defence has been wasting our money for generations no matter who's in power.

My prediction
Same sh!t, different day
with more and more Australians giving up on any pretence of competent government.
I mean look at the choices offered Angry

Well it is no great surprise to find that someone who seems to have obtained their "Moral Compass" from a REJECT shop, would post such pathetic comments.
I think Greens is more than capable of treating such pathetic taunts with the contempt they deserve, and as Blackadder is so bereft of the interpersonal skills to have anyone ever take him seriously, I think we can assign this as just another dropping on life's footpath, best stepped around, not unlike it's creator.

Could you wish for anyone better besides the “mad monk” to look more stupid and incompetent with ad campaigns during election time?

How many perfect potential ad situations could you use regarding Abbott standing there like a nutter when the media caught him about what he said about that soldier dying.

Aussies have an international reputation for being backward and dumb-arse, so don’t be surprised if Gillard wins again.

A few weeks back I thought you, Cullday, had a brain above that of an average leftard.

I was wrong.

What will we get if Tony Abbott becomes PM???

Dump the carbon tax and the revenue that it will generate???

Dump the mining tax and the revenue it will generate???

Dump the NBN no matter how much is laid and forgo any revenue a completed state of the art communications network will generate???

Dump the buyback for the Murray Darling river system and provide no certainty to people in South Australia who will suffer the consequences of such a short sighted policy???

Provide tax cuts to everyone which will be skewed towards high income earners???

Provide a paid maternity leave scheme that rewards wealth and will cost a lot more than Labor’s policy???

Cut 10 000 public service jobs to pay for his negative politics???

Cut 70 billion in services from the budget to pay for his negative politics???

Return to work choices under another name???

Join the war in Iran if the Republicans win the next USA election???

Destroy the environment with direct action that will achieve nothing???

Destroy renewable energy programs in favour of coal mining???

Tony Abbott will destroy Australia if he becomes PM.....that is my prediction!!!

Putting Gillard, KRudd and Brown into a rowing boat in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, would be a great start

I don't see that as being critical - just questioning what it really is? Having a wish list is not exactly derogatory - some would consider it a good thing.

I may eventually put together a wish list of my own - if and when I feel like it and have some time.

Maybe including things like

The fixed carbon price will be implimented and people will quickly realise that its no big deal and that the Libs have been dishonest again.

Tony Abbott will say no once too often and people will work out that he has nothing to offer.

Poker machine reform will be implimented and hopefully it will work.

We will find a successful solution to the boat people problem and it will not involve Nauru, Malaysia or off shore processing. (thats a big wish).

As some of the benifits to their communities come on line the independants will find that the discussion and polls will return to sane balanced levels.

Gillard will not find the long lost packet of 'Competence' in the bathroom cabinet in 2012, and will lead Labor from one disaster of their own making to another until they face destiny at the ballot next year.
And it won't be pretty for Labor.

Are you prepared to put money on that prediction? I know I am. You're spot on!

About the only guaranteed thing for the coming political year is bad polls for Labor. I wont say the 'gillard govt' because there is no guarantee she will even be PM at years end or that labor will even be in govt.

Now now Phil.
If you were really a genuine Haruspex, the IPCC would already have you making futuristic climate change predictions for them. Smiley
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, we will all have to wait and see what Prime Minister Abbott actually does achieve during his term.

The Lame Duck Tony Abbott?

Lame because of not controlling the Senate, and lame because the Nats have pulled out of the coalition.

No thinking Australian will vote a guy who has turned business confidence and investment into his kicking ball. No one who wants to be unemployed will vote for Mister No.

How do you know he ,or the libs, won't control the senate??

Half of the Senate is up for reelection at the 2013 election (or whenever the next election is held)...
