When good policy came naturally, not luckily by: Mike Steketee From: The Australian January 07, 2012 12:00AM

WHEN Donald Horne called his 1964 classic The Lucky Country, he meant it ironically, although that has often been overlooked. As he said: "Australia is a lucky country, run mainly by second-rate people who share its luck."

Luck still plays its part. It was not so long ago that we were getting our knickers in a knot about being an old economy, left behind by the internet revolution powering economic growth in the US. Thanks to our geology and China's rush to industrialise, we can afford to stop worrying about that for the time being, although not indefinitely.

*Sure....they're anti competitive as any subsidised job is.  It wouldn't be there without the tax payer.  Very damned difficult for a brainwashed collectivist to understand that I know....  (swaggy) *
